Question numbers too high?

Hey guys,

I have been with this site for a couple of months or so, reading up on lots of good material and the like. so I went to the dyno in my buddy's garage today and I was really surprised by my car. Am looking for opinions, cause my numbers dont make sense to me based on what I've read on here. anyway here they are. sorry I dont have scanner for the actual readout.

car: 1998 z28 A4

rwhp: 331
rwtq: 368

but all I have on the car is

magnaflow catback
mti lid
high flow filter
FRA

any ideas? Am going back over later so I will let you all know the name of the dyno he's got.

Those numbers do seem way too high...especially for an a4 with minimal mods.

yeah, when i dynoed the first time all i had was an ls6 cam and an airlid with hooker catback and i only made 330 rwhp and 335 tq. those numbers seem a little high especially for an a4.

hey again guys sorry didnt get back earlier, am in the midst of finals.

jrp: SAE horsepower and in 3rd from about 3200rpm (eliminate downshift?)

what is locked vs. unlocked? I forgot to ask Tom. sorry am still kinda new

oh and it was a dynojet. i remember earlier someone saying something about a dyno that was always off. some mustang dyno? or mach something? I forget. anyway its weird though. cause my g/f's 94 25th T/A A4 is modded to about 300RWHP give or take 5, and when we race my car DESTROYS her. i mean DESTROYS. its bizarre and she gets mad at me so we dont do it too often

anyway that's where I'm at. I am the fourth owner of the car, so I was thinking maybe the rear had been changed? but the whole thing looks stock, and I was told that everything was stock when I got it. But would a rear ffect the dyno? I dunno. anyway I got two more papers to write. will be back later

The rear would not give you horsepower. The dyno is probably just reading a little high or there are mods on the car you don't know about. Maybe a previous owner stuck an LS6 cam in there and didn't tell anyone.

ws-sick: yeah an ls6 cam that would be nice but I doubt it. when I got her, everything looked stock. stock exhaust, stock intake, etc etc etc. And I figure if the rear had been changed the plate on the back would be different, not jsut the factory looking rusty one. or maybe not? maybe jsut naive? again, I am still figuring all this out.

I guess the numbers are just wrong. gonna get a second opinion in two weekends after wintr break starts. I was just surprised cause my g/f's TA waas dynod there and at this other place down the way, and both her readings looked the same, give or take 5 horses I think. and her torque numbers were right on too. who knows???? lol

anyways thanks for your posts

Another thing you can do is taking the car to the track, with those # it should be running mid 12's, I think.

Yeah. My 2000 A4 WS6 stock dynoed 292hp/298tq. With an SLP lid, Flowmaster catback, and no filter it dynoed 315hp/318tq.

My 2001 T/A dynoed 301hp, 338tq with a lid, SLP y-pipe, hollow cats, and a stock exhaust. It did have a PY3600 conveter though which I dynoed unlocked.
