Post 02ws6 vs. 03-04cobra stock FINALLY!

Well guys I will first say that I finally beat an 03-04 cobra in my ws6. This might be along post so be ready to read, + I don't know how to use paragragphs in the post.
It started out last night at about 1130ish. I left a few of my friends early to see my g/f and on the way to her house I stopped by the local cruise spot. As I am driving around I noticed a black newer style mustang go by the other way. I try to look and see if it has the spoiler of the newer mustang cobras. It DID . I whip around relatively quickly and chase after him which I rarely do. I follow him around the spot for about an 1/2hour. In that time frame I see him mess around with an lt1 style green corvette. I follow suit and watch them race. They go to an area that is well known by the racers and the cops. They are going about 30mph when I get behind the vette to follow I noticed that it had an lt4 badging on the back left bumper. I was curious about this cause I thought the lt4 was only on the Grand Sport Vette. I watch anyway not racing from behind but speeding to see the race nonetheless. The vette won the race by only a little bit. I pull up and get alook at the cobra to see if it was worked and the exhaust was pretty small and he didn't have all the gauges on the A-pillar and his tires looked stock. The vette and the cobra run again from about a 30mph roll again. The cobra went sideways when they ran, but once he hooked up he shot right past the vette and pulled hard in 3rd or 4th gear. So I still follow the cobra after the race and finally get next to him after about 40minutes or so(Never shutting my t/a off ). I finally mess around with him from a roll and started pulling hard this is when I heard the whistling from the blower . I tell him that if he wants to really race to follow me to a different spot by the highway which he does. I pull over and shut my car off finally letting it cool down for like 10min. as I talk to the guy who was pretty cool and I told him that I have never raced a blowncobra and really wanted to. He told me that he was bone stock and ran a 13.0s at 109 which I responded to that I ran a 12.7@109(before converter and full exhaust. ). I then congratulated him on the vette kill and told him I needed a burnout and he said that since I had dragradials on he wanted the leave I agreed. I do my and then roll next to him by the 1/4. As soon as I see him roll forward and hit the gas I launch the nittos have 28psi and I left at 2k and smoked the tires as I was passing him and by the end I had a 1/2 to maybe 1 full cars lenght from his nose to my bumper I won. We slowed up and he told me that he had a friend with an 01 ls1 with a converter and a full exhaust that did a 12.6s I said cool and we b.s. a few more minutes then left. I was very happy as this was my first 03-04 cobra race and the first race in awhile in the t/a. Sorry for this long story and for those of you that read it thank you and I hope it was enjoyable. I have one question for all of you did the 95-96ish style vette really have an lt4 in it or what?

Cool story man. Nice kill. And yeah, the 96 Vette's could come w/ LT4's. I'm not sure about the rest of the years, but I know for sure the regular (non GS) 96 Vette's could come w/ LT4's..

yes it was long but good kill get a bigger stall 3400 would be nice and some other work like a head cam and some suspension mods and next time you could own him or if your not worried you could always get out a can of bug spray for those pesky insects

Nice kill. Sounds like a nice tight race you should shoot for that lt4 vette now and let some of that tire pressure out.

The LT4 was only offered in '96. All '96 vettes with a 6sp came with the LT4 engine, while all autos that year came with the LT1.

thanx for the responses. I did not know that the 6spd had lt4s while autos had lt1s. BTW the lt4 lost to the cobra which I beat, so I think I would have beaten the lt4 anyway.

The mods were ls1 whisper intake, hpp3,3.73s,slp air temp module,K&N,nittos down to 18 for a 1.9 60ft.,transgo shift kit.totally functional ram air hood, that is about all the mods I had for the 12.7@109 before that when the car was stock I did a 13.4@104ish I have the slips in another room then where my big computer is. Hope you do well and remember when you race win or lose if you don't break anything/crash you had a good day.

Nice kill! Your car runs strong to trap 109 before LTs and converter.
