Default How will the AFR 225cc heads and cam do on a 346?

I was just wondering how people thought they would do on a 346 daily driver?

Thanks

Kyle

gomer just mill them biatches then flycut.

I would expect them to do very well with a properly sized cam. A lot fo the lsx ported whatever stage heads are very well into the 233-240cc range already so i would expect high velocity with very good flow numbers.

fwiw, there was a post by tony mamo on the z06vette forum that gave some very promising numbers. I would expect them to hit over 510rwhp with all the bolt ons with a g5x3 or trex sized cam with probably 450rwtq.

that depends on the rest of the setup. they have great potential but even AFR's wont cure a shitty combo.

from tony's results. think the 205 is a killer combo for a
daily driver (funny, think tony has said that at least a 100 times )
totaly agree with JRP!

My AFR-TEA 225cc heads (64cc chambers) are on and made 489.3RWHP/480RWHP with a 12.5 A/F ration and 28* of timing. I fell just shy of my 500RWHP goal with my 383. My cam is really small for a 383 (232/236 114LSA). All in all I'm very happy, the car makes over 450RWTQ as early as 3900rpm's and over 480RWHP from 5600rpm's through 6500rpm's.

Hey Guys...

My goals are to hopefully see 510 RWHP on my C5 (as most of you know already generating 480 RWHP with the AFR 205's, a 224 cam, and all the "bolt-ons").

I'm hoping to achieve this by simply swapping the heads to our larger 225's and installing the next cam in the AFR R&D pipeline which will still be somewhat on the conservative side (probably somewhere around 232' @ .050). Again, as I have mentioned in a few other threads, it's quite obvious a bigger stick will yield higher peak numbers and even more "bragging rights", but I will let the more aggressive tuners play with the more "hardcore" build-ups.....If we can achieve a "legitamate" 510 RWHP thru 3.90 gears, a stock LS1 shortblock, and a "medium" sized cam that has more overall drivability and better street manners I would say that's hitting one out of the park.

Obviously this is all just "hopes and dreams" at this point but I feel reasonably confident those numbers will be attainable with the new combination. The 225 is simply a larger version of our 205 and still retains the winning formula of strong airflow across the entire curve (VERY important) thru a modest sized port. It's gain in "volume" is also complimented by a significant increase in total flow keeping the airspeed close to the 205 while providing more peak airflow for higher HP potential.

Hopefully sometime this January we will get to see some actual results...

Will obviously keep you guys informed on our progress.

Regards,
Tony M.

Which combustion chamber size were you planning to use?

Whatever yeilds me a final CR of about 11.25 to 1 (slightly higher than I run currently)

Assuming I have valve reliefs displacing 2-3 cc's, that would mean a chamber volume close to 58 cc's. (I would flatmill our 62 cc version of the 225's due out early next year).

I will share all the finer details when we complete all of our testing.
