my friend is going to race an a4 ls1 trans am that has exhaust as his only mod. my friend's car is a manual, but slower, running a best of a 13.9. the trans am will go from a roll. so i was wondering what speed of a roll will benefit my friend most, since he has a manual and can select the gear. like maybe a speed where the ls1 a4 will be at low rpms but the transmission won't downshift. something like that, that could help my friend make it a more even race.

35 mph. Worst possible place to gun the gas with stock gears and more importantly the stock torque converter. But a nice 3500-4000 stall will fix that

Run the A4 at 25-30mph. Make it a good race. If you race from 35-40 then the m6 will have an advantage because of gear selection. This is with an A4 with 3.23 rear end. 2.73s then 40mph for the fairly easy win.

35 mph is a bad dead stop for a stock A4.
a stall will fix that.

The TA would have to be an idiot to go at ANYTHING over 32. If he agrees then it is just ignorance of not knowing his shift points.
M6 should eat him up if that is the case...

Even at 25-30 roll it should be a good race like White WS6 said...

I say run from 25mph roll and then one more time from a 65mph roll.
That would be a couple of good races.

Racing from a dead stop has more to do with the ability of the driver, racing from a role has more to do with the ability of the car.

depends upon his gears, my stock stall stock gear 2.73 z28 will go to first at 40, no my speedo isnt wrong.

Don't forget tuning. I had my downshifts tweaked a little and my A4 will drop down right at the perfect spot.
