Do you want to go ORY? I would say save your money for LTs and ORY or catted Y. Stock headers suck. No point in changing everything but the stock manifolds. You will only gain about 10rwhp after replacing the ORY and midpipes. The Y pipe after the cats does nothing but hinder ground clearance.
Just save your money.

i cant go long tubes right now, im a freshman in college and i live in ohio, which means i have to pass emissions. since im in college i dont have the money or the time to be swapping out my exhaust to pass emissions. i know i will gain more if i have LT's but i cant have them right now. so for now i would like to know what my options are as far as high flow cats and a new y-pipe that will fit with stock headers and borla cat-back.

Wasen't trying to send you in another direction, the cost to gain would not be worth it. I maid a bad mistake, "before i found this sight" of beleveing slp's outrageous hp gains and bought there y pipe that fit stock exhaust, only differance was the driver side was round instead of flat. Now I have a 3in ory and guss what it's flat on the drivers side. I wish i could have that 200$ back. Just saying if it were me save up for a nice set of lts and catted y. hope this helps

Magnaflows are fine. I believe Kooks uses those.

why do you want to keep your stock manifolds? they're heavy and restrictive. are emissions a problem for you? go for some shorty headers and some high flow cats if thats the case, and port the primaries.

How much power would you expect from that? I have the same emmisions problem but everyone said I will get no power either way (manifolds or shorty headers).

Forget the cats. Leave it the way it is until you have the money to do LTs. HF cats will only give you like 5rwhp. Not worth the money. Look I put down 344rwhp and 361rwtq (runway flat curve too, 300ftlbs at 2500rpm) with stock exhaust and open cut-out with some simple bolt-ons. The only alternative is macs and a catted Y which will cost more anyhow. They make high flow catted Ys for LT set-ups. Just save the money. I owe my torque curve to my stock Y, cats and manifolds.

Get them used if that is the option. I would not get a new y-pipe unless it was less than 50 dollars or less.

Why not? Many, many, MANY people on this board have LT's and pass emissions. I passed with Jet-Hot LT's, duals dumped at the axle, no cats, no EGR, and no AIR. A lot of places do OBD-II plug in diagnostic checks for newer cars and you can pass with O2 sims or a basic computer tune. Other than bypassing the stock muffler there are no worthwhile gains for the money with stock exhaust. If you really don't want to get headers (at least Macs, which are actually just as illegal as longtubes) then put the money somewhere else.

If you cant do LT's, dont waste the money on modding or swapping the Y-pipe.

Our point is if you are not doing LTs, leave it the F* alone! Anything else is a waist of money.

If you can't do LT's, please at least tell us why. That would help with alternatives. You're leavin us in the dark here and that doesn't help us help you at all.

What I do is run a bassani ORY that bolts directly to the stock '00+ manifolds. BTW, it is my understanding that those manifolds flow rather well for what they are. After that is a Magnaflow cat-back (although there are no cats...)
When I have to smog, I'll put the cats back on. I do this in my carport in a modest amount of time. Also, this set up is rather loud and very raspy. I'd guess that a hooker cat-back might better suit this set up and the whole thing would be relatively inexpensive, flow well and sound nice. Just don't expose that exhaust to the salted Ohio winter roads and you'd be all good.
