Question which air lid????

how's it going guys? a while back i got a issue of either chevy high performance or gm high tech and they had a HUGE article in there about ls1 air lids and at the time i was going after a lt1 so i really didn't read much of it but now i have a ls1 and would like to upgrade my air lid and don't know which would be the better bang for my buck. i plan on getting the K&N air filter not the whole kit though. too freakin high. i would appriciate your opionions.

Pick a lid, any lid (they all perform equally give or take a horse/tenth).

MTI's good ol' lid is great.

A lid is a lid is a lid. TSP and MTI seem to be the most popular around here. I like my SLP, but some have had fitment issues.

Fitment is the problem that most people have with Lids (due to their manufacturing process).

It is my opinion from experience and talking to others that the SLP Lid has the best reputation for good tight fit. But like everyone else said... All lids are the same.

oh ok. i was under the inpression that some were better than others. thanks for you input guys and thanks for that huge thread Keenov. will come in handy. does the guy that selling the clear lids make them all the time? what i mean to say is will he make more if he sells out? cause i prob wont have the money to "waste" on that for a little while. gotta buy tires and a shifter first.

I think I heard that the SLP rubs against the hood.

I've had 2 TSP lids and I'd recommend them to everyone.

I would recommend the SLP lid only because of it's superior construction...it is molded from a different type of plastic and it seems to be stronger than any other lids I've seen. ..that being said, I switched to a TSP smoked-clear lid for looks.

I also have the TSP lid. The fitment was awesome and it seems to be well made.

Im suppose to be geting my MTI lid today. I was going to go with TSP since they are where i live at. But they werent sure when they were going to get them in. I bought new cause i guess people think those damn things are gold. Why pay 70 for used when a new one is 100.

I read the same article and after all was said and done anyway they were all really close. I am personally going with the TSP even though it wasn't number one on the list (two or three I think). Plus if you have the time might as well just go with them since they are so backlogged on the lids. They have a whole package on their site for I think $325 giving lid, Z06 MAF with harness and smooth bellows. No need to really invest in a whole shifter UMI (sponsor) is selling their handle replacement that is just great for a little less then $27 shipped. Ryan knows me well, and is building some stuff for me, just let him know that I referred you and he'll set you up if the sale isn't still on, great customer service. It puts the **** right where it should be and makes the stock base feel like an aftermarket. Unless you are dragging, in which case the Pro 5.0 is good for you alng with the UMI handle. Auto-X can work just fine with stock and handle set up. Oh yeah, now that I am done being nice I will do what everyone here was thinking when they saw this post. USE THE SEARCH BUTTON AND STICKIES! Welcome to the board.
