K&N FIPK
Just ordered a K&N FIPK. Currently have an SLP Ram air with a Fram paper filter but it sucked water into inlet when I went through a large puddle. Just wondering how much if any power I'll lose with the K&N & how/where does it get cold air?

FIPK is best used for a car with a ram air hood, like the WS6/SS hood. Because of the air that is coming from the hood directly into the FIPK filter.
The cold air is coming from the front, just like it did when you had the stock lid on the car, without the Free Ram Air mod done to it or the SLP Ram Air kit.
The best route is to keep the SLP RAM air system and not go through large puddles, if you have the stock hood.
I have the FTRA and I have driven in multiple rainy days. I have not had one problem yet. I also go through occasional puddles. You must have went through a foot of water and revved the **** out of the motor or something.
H. FIPK:
What they are:
What they do: same effect as the lid.
What to look for: a ws6 hood or slp z hood with functionality is bests suited for maximum airflow.
How to install: see CAI install.

Like I said before.. The FIPK system, along with others like it, would be best used on a car with a ram air type hood.
Cars with standard hoods will flow better with a properly sealed lid and a Ram Air Kit.

I picked mine up used, but in like new condition ~8 months ago for $175. Yes, its more expensive than a lid. Yes, there have been MULTIPLE comparisons, and sometimes people see gains at highway speeds that outgain a lid. Some don't. I like the way it looks personally, and like ddelallata said, you're buying more than just a lid.
