Default What are the advantages of having Advance ground in?

For a mostly street car, is it necessary to have any Advance ground in a cam shaft?

If you do a few degrees of Advance ground in, does it increase or decrease Overlap?

If you have the cam ground with advance or retard, then you dont have to adjust/degree it when installing. You can install it "straight up." I believe advancing a cam shifts the power curve down. (sooner hp peak) Im not sure on the overlap part though.
