Impressive - look how compact everything is on that engine. Wouldn't want to work on it though! Look where the starter is. Is the BMW V8 like that too?

More or less yes. the only stright forward motor BMW makes is the Inline 6, but even that one has become rather complex with throtle-less valves, magnesium blocks and hydroformed cams...
