I live in Michigan and will be forced to drive in the snow once and awhile but limited....if i could get opinions from people with both in regards to tread life and performance for the spring/summer set that would be good...
Option 1- buy 4 all season pirelli pzero nero m&s and use them for winter and sprong/summer (tire rack gave them pretty good rating...treadlife-400AA

Option 2- buy 4 Nitto R2 street legal radials...-(treadlife-300AA) and get them mounted on when summer/spring comes along and get 4 mid grade winter tires to pull me through winter

*i got both pirelli and nitto's quoted at around the same price

THANKS GUYS

Between those two I would go with the Pirelli. They will probably be better in snow than any Nitto tire. Not to mention they are pretty good in dry weather too.

option 2 IMHO. Nittos are amazing in dry weather. I have contis on right now for winter..cheap and good.

Kevin-
Think you might be able to get ahold of a extra set of crappy wheels? Alot of my friends frmo up north buy a cheap set of wheels, throw on some REALLY good all weather/winter tires, and use those during the winter. Then in the summer/spring they pull out their nice wheels and Drag radial tires and drive around on them. THAT would be the best option.......it's up to you if it's doable or not though..

i thought about getting 2 sets of wheels but i dont know if i want to spend all that because i would want to buy like chrome 18's...im leaning towards the pirellis right now im not sure though between performance still on those and nittos

I have the Pirelli PZero Nero and they are a great tread for spring/summer/fall, the winter is good as well but for myself I chose a dedicated snow tire for the winter. I have the Yokohama Ice Guard IG10 but I would prefer the performance version over this and I have heard good of the Blizzaks.

The Pirelli for spring/fall do better than my previous BFG KDW because the cooler temps affected the rubber on the BFG so they lost their awesome tackiness of the summer. As for a summer tire the BFG KDW was a great street tire and hooked a bit better than my Pirellis but the Pirellis are still a great summer as well. I did my best 1/4 on the Pirellis...

I have also read that for comparison of the BFG KDW that it is similiar to the GoddYear GS-D3 and the Pirreli PZero Nero is right there with em. Another thing with the Pirreli PZero Nero is that it is very similiar to the Pirreli PZero on both the Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercielago.
