The 4.10s will help you out for sure but it's going to be a good race. I say you take him if you are a good driver.

ive had 2 lightning owners tell me they had a few mods, ect, ect, and that they were pushing 10lbs of boost. i called BS on them and beat them pretty badly. and all i have is an a4, catback, lid, and 3.23 gears.

I raced a 03 brand new Lightning with the paper plates once. I beat him and I was stock at the time. They do stay neck and neck at the start with you. If you are a good driver you will win. But do know what mods he has? If he has some good mods he will blow you doors off. Good luck.

Make sure the race lasts for at least 1/4 mile. Even if he gets the jump on ya you will run him down the last half due to aerodynamics alone.

ok i have both L and fbody ls1. the L if stock is pretty slow. they run 14.1-13.9 pretty average. in teh cold air they run much better, like this time of year. 8 psi is stock but in teh cold air and an airfilter (or just cut the bottom of the airbox) they make 10 psi. pulley and chip and they are a solid 12.9-12.70 on stock tires. the thing about them is they hook hard on teh street and at teh track. but over 80 mph and they are gonna slow down big time. if you can hook decently and he is on a stock pulley you will beat him easily. if you spin you better catch up!

Just to let you know, you are going to be going up against the fastest production truck (at that time). That truck should run close to a 13 in the quarter. It runs an M112 Eaton blower, should be pushing 15psi easily. If someone says they are only running 10psi they are full of crap, have done exhaust mods, or thier truck runs like crap. My 90 TBird SC (supercharged V6) with an M90 Eaton blower stock would push 10psi, then I changed the pulley and it would run right to 15 psi. The NGK plugs are crap for that type engine, I know...went through a set on my SC, same type engine. You mentioned waterpump...are we talking electric or just a high flow? Electric would give him HP gains.
Even though that truck is fast from the factory, with your mods, you should be able to hang with him or take him one.

I raced a lightning a few weeks ago and lost twice. I have an M6 on stock bald F1's and in this weather I literally went nowhere. They hook pretty well for a truck. I also had the ASR on like a jackass and missed third and lost by less than a few feet. So if you can hook you will destroy him. I spun the first 3 gears and still caught up. Your 4:10's will definately help you. I think you will destroy him.

i raced an '03 lightning and ate him alive... couldnt hook for anything and still walked him hard. only time he was close was from a dig when i missed second... we raced about 6 times (buddy of mine) 2 from a dig, 2 from a 20 roll, and 2 from a 50 roll. it was fun but they are no match for the mighty ls1.

Stock Lightnings come with 7-9 psi from the factory, that is a fact. The claimed output is 8 psi, but mine will only see that on a cold night. Stock Lightning motors max out at like 16 psi, after which stuff starts breaking. A real fast stock L, which is basiclly what your buddy has, will at best, pull a 13.3. I have both a Lightning and a WS6. Stock for stock a M6 with a capable driver should win by at least 2-3 cars. A4 is pretty even with a slight nod to the F bod.

I raced an 03 lightning that was bone stock and walked him. I also raced the same lightning with exhaust and some sort of performance pulley amongst other bullshit and the result was pretty much the same i walked him pretty good. Although i am in a stalled A4 and get good launches i think you will take him if you can get a decent launch with the m6. Dont fear the supercharger. Unless it is in a cobra. Dont get me wrong the lightning is pretty damn fast for a truck, but unless its on the juice or you dont know how to drive, you should have no prob.
