Dodge Ram SRT-10

Dodge Ram SRT-10
I was going down Bailey Cove(for those of you in Huntsville) and there was a black Dodge Ram SRT-10 driving down so of course I catch up and its a guy driving maybe late 20's. He looks over and sees me and does alittle gun and let off so I do the same. For about 5 miles we are just next to each other revin and playin alittle cat-and-mouse. He had to of had an aftermarket exhaust because it sounded alot louder but not too good because from what I have heard V10's do not sound to good. Well anyways we are both first at a light and I look over and hes smilin' probably thinking he is about to destroy this kid in a Trans Am WS6! Well, light turns green and we both ease into first and when i shift into 2nd he guns it and gets alittle lead. I catch up by top of second and when I throw it into 3rd he pulls about a wheel ahead of me and we both let off at 90. By this time he was maybe a 1/4 of a car infront of me, like my hood was just past his front wheel. Well he has a look of shock on his face I guess thinking I kept up with him so well. I give him a thumbs up and he does the same. Then I turn and go off my way. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Either this guy couldnt drive very well or these Rams arent as much as they are cracked up to be, either that or I just have a factory freak!

They really aren't that fast. I've seen a few break into the high 12's with really good weather, but thats rare. I'm not really impressed with them, they took our title as the fastest truck ever produced from the factory. Kinda funny that it took someone 14 years and 4 more cylinders to do it. And we're still the quickest. Stock for stock they only beat the Syclones by something like 2 tenths.

I just got the truck on a dyno, and with the mods in my sig I hit 305hp and 452trq, this was an AWD dyno. So there 500 trq doesn't say much out of a engine that has almost twice the displacement. And they weigh 1500 lbs more than I do. Not very impressive in my book (but I'm a lil biased towards Sy's and Ty's )

Just as others have said, it's heavy. Not easy to launch either, same problem most ls1 owners have, no traction.

Its a stock truck, that is side by side with a Firebird WS6, thats impressive.
Nice kills though. Hey is any one else glad to not see "Cobra vs Camaro!" I personally am very excited, I am so sick of seeing "Cobra looses!" then seeing Cobra owners sign up to make excuses for that car [I know the Cobra is faster stock though, oh and there are some really cool Cobra owners here].
Either way nice kill. I have to say that Dodge really put the SRT-10 p/u together fast. "Hmmm, lets just put our strongest current engine in it!" Then again, thats what I would do.

here's one of them. I think the Syclone was a 13.7. Motortrend had a test too. But here's car and driver on the typhoon.

I have found other sites, ranging from 14.1s-14.4s for the typhoon
the syclone from 13.5-13.9, just too many variations. I guess no different than the ls1s.

Hmm maybe the times I am thinking of are after my boss had added a few mods. Been a good 8 years, my mind is starting to go
The most impressive thing is that the track numbers were very repeatable on the street.

The Syclone's are real low 13's and the Ty's are high 13's. http://www.sportmachines.com/magrack...ver_11-90.html
The Syclone was the fastest truck ever produced till the SRT-10, and it's still the quickest ever produced. Our 0-60 is mid 4 sec. Here's a link to a thread with some of the SyTy community talkin about there 0-60 times.

in general, there are more Syclone's running mid high 13s than low 13s. Same thing with the typhoon, more running 14s than 13s.
There's are always a few that are the exception.
If that's the case, it would be in the guiness world record book as the fastest stock overall not in production. It's not in there the last time I checked.
The lightning use to be with a post of 13.6-13.8 as a production, not be a couple that are out of the ordinary.
It's currently the srt-10 now. Bone stock 0-60 and the 1/4 mile and the top speed.
I can show you other links that posts 13.5-13.9s. Just because the one ran a 13.0 flat.
Hey, I like them, they were a good production product of the time.
