Is anyone here driving on the street with a spool? What are the cons. This car isn't driven alot but I drive it to my parents sometimes (2 hr each way).
Any opinions are welcome.

I have a spool in my car . It's a little toughter on the tires. You also have to watch yourself in the rain. Other then that it's not that bad. Why would you want to change over from what you have now. Your car seems to be working well.

From when I was looking into spools I only had one reason to go against it. It generates alot of heat on turns and will slowly twist the axles from the heat now that isn't a big deal if you drive straight alot or not drive for distances. now I do both of them so I figured it wouldn't be worth going through axles and I would rather have a locker.

is there ever a chance that you would autocross or road race with us? if no, then go for the spool. once you put the spool in, the car becomes mostly a single purpose machine.

My posi took a dump so I,m looking into my replacement options. I don't think I like the idea of a spool but I don't know enough about them.

Road racing sounds like fun. Where do you do that?

He's gone to Pocono Raceway, Lime Rock in CT and he does autocrossing too up at Giant's stadium and elsewhere, these things are run by various clubs etc and Scott can give ya some links.

I say if you dont drive a hell of alot, go spool, after 2 bent axles and a 12 bolt posi shitting the bed, my spool is great, and i drove on it last 2 years, and its probably got about 10k-15k miles on it. its a little harder, but if it is installed right, it will out live ANY locker or posi.
