Yank SS3600 vs Vig 3400 vs TCI SSF3500 vs Yank TT II 3300
Ok, I know I already got a thread going on the TCI SSF3500, but I would like to hear everybodies opinion on all of these brands. After reading on the Yank website, it really sounds like they got their stuff together, while alot of others don't. Seems from what I hear Yank and PI Vig converters are really good stuff. I have used TCI converters before in a Ford C6 trans, and was very disappointed. Not sure if quality has improved or not, but I read a few threads on here about TCC slippage with the TCI converters. Has anybody experienced this problem with Yank or Vig converters?
Also currious about shift kits, I would like to install a mild shift kit for my 4L60E, I don't need bone jaring shifts, and certainly don't want to stress my warranty covered transmission(940 miles right now) with crazy line pressure. I am wondering if the Trans-go shift kits have improvements to increase durability, without crazy boosts in line pressure.
Here are the planned mods for the car.
2004 GTO
CAI-------Done
Offroad midpipes(no converters) and catback 2.5 inch
ASP underdrive pulley
HP tuners/ or maybe a predator tuner
Ported throttle body by Janzter
TORQUE CONVERTER????????
Trans-go shift kit
B&M trans cooler

Well if money isn't much of an issue i'd go with the SS3600. I'm broke and have heard ALOT more good than bad about TCI so they get the nod from me!!

I have a Yank SS3800 in my 2.73 geared car....love it, just wish I went with a SS4000. So my recommendation to you is SS4000, it really does feel stock until you hammer it.....You'll kick yourself in the *** later if you go with the SS3600

SS4000............ are you nuts?
The GTO comes with 3.46 gears stock, so I doubt I would need quite as much converter as you, and the car is heavier than an F-body.
I just couldn't go with more than the SS3600.

I've had both the yank and vig convertors. Seems the yanks are hit and miss sometimes maybe quality control i really don't know. The vig's are consistent as to quality and performance. For that reason alone i'd get a vig.

I use to have a Yank 3300 before I switched to the Yank SS4000. With the 3300 I ran against a friend that had a TC!3500 with simular mods and my 60' times were always a little better than the other car.

Wow, you guys really brought this thread back from the dead.
I ended up getting a Fuddle Racing 3400 1.8 STR converter and am very happy with it.........I paid under $400 shipped on a group purchase....
The others can't touch that price......

i just pickd up a ssf 3500.. on a non converter related issue i had difficulties with yank.... hit and miss seems to be what ive been hearing about yank...... the way i look at it is tci and yank make a very comparable product and with tci's being half the cost with better cust service, warrenty, and more reliable product quality, its a steal! not to mention those few hundred dollars you save could e put towards more mods!

Headers and a SSF3500 = 12.5@108 1.7 60" on 2.73's. Put a cam and 3.73's in over the winter. Now to take it back to the track and see the new times. With TCI you can send your stall to them and they will restall it to whatever you want. Thinking of pulling mine and going 4000 or 4200.
