Default Squeeks and rattles from f body

I got my 98 ta about a month ago. So far it is mechanically perfect, but there is some annoying squeeks. First thing is the hatch it seems like makes a high pitch squeeking noise everytime i hit a small bump or am goin 60+. Next is when I turn at a very slwo speed ( 5mph and under ) something creeks. Thats pretty much it , anybody know what they could be?

yes...it's the everything squaks quality package that comes standard with all the f-body's...sfc's will help...the turning is probably shock related ie..you need new shocks...a roll cage will help to but i doubt you will want that...

also i see that you have a 98 and it has 108k miles...so definatly get new shocks...and the hatch sucks on the 98's there is a mod that helps with the hatch's release if you are having problems...the sqeaking is normal though

I also had trouble with my back seat sqeaking, I put a couple of layers of electrical tape on the latches and it stopped.

Cold weather plays a factor in squeaks and rattles too. It's been fairly cool down here lately, I've noticed a few new noises.

f-body rattle is a factory option that comes standard. so its not really an option. but thats not the point. anyways its fine. get new suspension.

Aint the truth! It got below 20 degrees and the car started creaking and moaning until it warms up.

What exactly is this mod, and do you have a link? I just bought a '98 and I noticed that the release system is different from my old '00 TA. I was able to use a second spring on the TA to get it to pop better, but there's not even a first spring on this one. My hatch releases just fine but it doesn't "pop" up at all. Is that what the mod fixes? Thanks.

Yeah I've got a squeek that sounds like it's coming from the rear of the car and I have no idea what it is. It annoys the **** out of me. Could it possibly be the panhard rod? I'll have to look at the latches for the back seat. I have STB and SFC and it helped for about a week. Any ideas? I've got about 72k on the Z28.

Thanks for the link, that is what I thought. No spring fix for the '98s.

Hey all:
This is for everyone that has the noise coming from the rear and makes noise when you go over bumps ect and worse when it was cold.

I am a store manager for a Goodyear and I had the same noise on my 2000 Trans-am with 24,000 miles and it drove me up the wall. I had my head mechanic put it on a lift and we looked for it for hours and found it.

I just purchased a 2002 Z-28 with only 14,000 miles and the same noise.

Its a very easy fix. All you need is some tools and white grease and thats it.

Its the rear sway bar bushings. There is two of them. If I remember right its just a few bolts pull them off grease them up with white grease and put them back on and the noise is gone. You may have to do this 1 to 2 times a year.

It works trust me. I can take pictures and e-mail them to you if anyone needs them.

Hope this helps.
