quietest muffler on the market but low restriction too?? best electric cutout?? what is the best muffler for the z28's? i want my car to be super quiet and then put an electric cutout on it.. got a ticket for my straights the other day and so i want to get an electric cutout for my car asap!! i dont want the muffler to just kill my performance but if there is one that is quieter than stock or about the same that flows ok then that would be fine...also on the electric cutout..it still flows some exhaust through the muffler, correct? if so i dont want to lose any performance so may just not get to go quiet may have to deal with something a little loud.. any ideas? thanks.

definetly a dual/dual i have that setup with the cut out
very quiet at idle, cruise , sounds good at WOT, if i want loud open the cutout. i only lose maybe 5hp with the cutout closed.
long tubes , ory, d/d= sleeper quiet
theres a clip on ls1sounds.com of it also the one with the tr230 cam stock heads

Dual Dual flows as well as nearly all the best catbacks, with a lot less noise. You will find very little gain when opening the cutout until you exceed 500rwhp.

I replaced my 2002 Z28’s original single-in, dual-out muffler with a Dynomax Ultra Flo 17236 single-in-out muffler. Rear wheel horsepower increased from 300 to 307 without significant noise increase. The Dynomax is much cheaper than popular "cat back" mufflers but not everyone is old enough to accept the uncoolness.

well the flow is not as necessary with the electric cutout correct? i wanna get the cutout but what i need to know is will the cutout be the same as straight pipe with nothing on it? or does some air still flow through the cutout? if so will it be enough to matter? if the cutout will be the same as straight pipe then the restriction wont matter and so i can get something a little more restrictive and have a very quiet car when i want it to be..will it flow the same?

what do you guys think about this.. i could weld in a 2.5" section at the end of the straight pipe setup and put this on..how does it work? i guess it just cuts back the flow of air and makes the exhaust quieter?? i dont understand that..will it work?? check it out for me please..

if i could do this i could leave the setup i have got on it now on..just running straights right? running a little rich and burning a bit of oil might cause this unit to malfunction would be my only worry.. let me know what yall think.

oh i have actually never seen one..haha..anyway..the auction says *quote** SIMPLY ADJUST EXHAUST RESPONSE AND VOLUME FROM THE SEAT. NO MORE PAIN IN THE BUTT TO PUT ON AND OFF THE SILENCER.
and so i thought that all it did was just close off some flow and quiet the noise by restriction..is that even possible and if it is would it be good to do on a daily driver? constantly restricted?

Once you get on it; it will sound good though, just below 3k, it will sound almost as quiet as stock.
QTEC has a great reputation for electric cut-outs.

What he said,,, I have a SLP DD and a cutout at the rear, just before the muffler. I also only gained about 5 HP with the cutout open. It actually disapointed me,,,,, I was hopeing the cutout would be worth about 10 HP so I could get over 400 RWHP. O-well,,,,, disapointed there but I did find out I had a fairly good cat-back!

same here with the QTEC on my hc car with a tr 230 saw around 4 hp midrange thru cats for about 390, no diff on top, and it broke, when installing the forged motor, it never quite closed completly. not woth the hassle imho.

I've done this exact route before with a Dynomax ultraflow 17227 muffler (stock replacement muffler). It's about $100 and is VERY quiet (about equal to a stock SS). Then I put a 3" McCord cutout in the i-pipe and it roared. See a cop - close it up in 4 seconds. Good stuff.
The dual/dual is also cheap and light and quiet.
The Hooker is much louder than either.

i think i am just going to go with the exhaust valve thing on ebay..what do yall think? will it tone the exhaust down enough? let me know thanks and merry christmas.
