I just bought a 2000 Trans am WS-6, six speed and so on. Several places i read that it comes factory with a 12-disk cd changer. Is that true? where the heck would it be. DOn't mean to sound like an idiot but oh well. Please help me.

I don't know if it is supposed to come with it or not but I know they are located in the hatch on the driver's side where the t-tops go in the little compartment on the side. I have one and I love it....just sucks switching cd's but hey, who needs to switch them all the time when you have 12? lol.

The CD changer was an option......it didn't come standard.

Since it was an option, do you know if all of us without the changer have the changer controlls on the back of the monsoon cd player? I was just looking to purchase an aftermarket one from crutchfield.com and it says that it needs to have changer controls to use it through the in dash unit? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

All ya need to do is find a used CD-changer & dig for the wiring behind the rear drivers side panel in the harch area. Pre-wired, just find the plug & plug it in. (After you mount it in the trunk obviously, ...)

Been there, done that, ..., It works, ...

eBay & the for sale forums on the LS1 sites are great places to stat looking for one.

Good Luck!

So not all the monsoon headunits are wired for the changer?? so should the wires already be ran to the back?

Yes, I believe they were, ...

Yes, the wires are already there, ... (Take a look, ..., really, ..., it'll only take a couple minutes to get under the panel & find'em, ...)

Hey Pontiac Fan! I bought a used cd changer off eBay, found the wiring harness in the trunk, plugged it in and everything works. My only problem there is no factory bracket to mount the thing. The changer has a bracket that looks like it would snap into something, GM doesn't supply them anymore. How did you mount yours???

The one I bought had the bracket still mounted to it.
So all I had to do was drive the screws in to the car.
(I don't have the car at home right now, so I can't take any photos.)
Maybe someone else can share mount bracket photos?!?

Here is some pics of my factory installed unit, looks like its just mounted with L-shaped brackets, the one towards the rear is hard to see.

Someone searched & found some info, ..., & then replied in order to get more details. So I gave them an answer.

For their first post, ..., at least they did a 'search' first!
