Default Oil pressure going crazy!!!!!!

My oil pressure gauge has been acting funny, at a stop light the gauge would start to jump all over like from 40 to 70 back down to 40 up to 75. What is the easiest way to mech check the oil pressure, and I have a three gauge pod and I want to put a oil pressure gauge in there. How do I hook it up and leave the stock one hooked up? Is there a Y piece I need or what? Where is the original one hooked up at? And with it being in the A pillar should I go with an electronic one or will mech. be fine. Thanks.

Stock one is electrical.

Might want to do a mechanical one.

Do a search in this section. There is alot of information out there about doing it.

I've heard of this resulting from the oil-pump o-ring becoming dislodged or not being seated properly during a timing chain swap.
The loose o-ring causes air to enter the oil stream resulting in irratic pressure readings. I don't know if this is the case with you, but it is something to consider.

Have you checked out the oil pressure sensor?

I just replaced it over the holidays and waiting to see if that was the problem.
