The whole losing hp **** with a th400 is bull!!! It may show less hp on the dyno, but you don't lose anything!!! My trap speed with my 6-speed was about 115 and it was the same when I swapped to the t400 even with a really loose all motor converter, changed converters and put a more efficient nitrous converter in and it's now trapping 2 mph higher, around 117!! Th-400 was the best mod I ever did to my car!!!

That's an interesting spin. Any dyno operators care to comment?

Of course, if the TH-400 will stay in your car when the 4L60E won't, I'd consider that great right there... except for the loss of OD.

Yeah, I went to the th400 cuz I got sick of blowin up my 6-speed and was doing too much stupid **** with the 6-speed (flyin up and down the highways at over 150 mph all the time), so I decided to make the car a drag car that I could still drive on the street and went th400 cuz I didn't want to swap to a 4l60e and spend all that money just to have it give me problems!! The th400 is very strong and very good for drag racing, and with my gear/tire combo that I run, it limits me to cruising around 70 - 75 on the highway at around 3300 - 3500 rpm. So i'm very happy with it and the times i'm running with it!!! Right now on motor with the nitrous setup i'm running 11.7x's @ 117.xx, I can't wait to spray it, just gotta figure out an issue i'm having with leaning out on the top end and get new slicks (i've been spinning and couldn't figure out why, well I realized why when I looked at my slicks after the last race, could see the nylon or metal (whichever it is) bands showing thru in the slicks, so they're done, time for a new pair)!!!

Great times! How light is your car?

What did you do about shifting? Is it all manual? Do you have a manual valvebody?

Sorry... don't get in this section much.

I see there is a great TH400 sticky thread.

I'll browse that.

Thanks, here's a little info on the car:

Comp 228 cam
Jet-hot LT's with extensions (basically open headers)
LS6 intake manifold
lid and filter
some tuning

TH-400 w/ Yank SS4000E converter
3-inch heavy duty steel nitrous ready driveshaft
moser 12-bolt w/ 3.73 gears

Hals all around
lg motorsports g2 subframe connectors
lakewood lower control arms
bmr adjustable torque arm
bmr adjustable panhard rod
chassis engineering 6-point chromemoly roll bar

Weld draglites 15x10 rears with hoosier qtp 27x10.5x15 (currently shot, so upgrading to either hoosier or M/T 28" slicks)
Weld draglites 15x3.5 fronts with pepboys 165r15 beetle tires

Car weighs 3220 w/o me in it and still has a/c and all that, only stuff removed is the carpet, rear seats, and panels. And I weigh in between 250 - 260 usually, so it's about a 3470 - 3480 raceweight.

*Edit* - Almost forgot to answer ur ?, yes it has a full manual valvebody and is shifted manually. The one in mine is a reverse manual with a transbrake to be exact.
