Default Whats the best converter for me?

I have a 94 Z28 I will soon have...
Full Headers Edelbrock headers to flowmaster mufflers (no cat)
Lingenfelter CAI
LT4KM
PCM tune, and some suspension work.
The car will see a few trips to Atco, but mostly street fun. I want a converter for the car and wanted to know what my best bet was.

Someone said that with the LT1 I shouldnt go with more than a 2800 converter. Is this true? I hate the tight converters (like the B&M 2400 in my chevelle) I mostly wanna be able to get up and go a bit better than I do now. The car will eventually have 3:73 gears in a 12-bolt but that will be over summer. The converter will be a thing in the next few weeks. Thanks for any input. What converter is the best for what I want to do?

Jon

Vigilante 3200 should be more than you need. It will get up and go.

Also, get some sticky tires.

I would go a little higher like a 3600. A 2800 stall is way too low you probably wouldnt feel much over stock.

You can go higher in an LT1 but keep in mind:

You don't need as high a stall in an LT1 as LS1 because of the LT1's lower power band. A vig 2800 can cut a good 60' in the LT1.

Some LT1s have had problems with stalls larger than 3000, depending upon the PCM.

For the above reasons, a Vig 2800 is a good safe choice for a street & strip LT1 with a stock cam. A vig 3200 will definitely perform a little better at the track if you have good tires.

Also, Vigs are usually a little looser than the rating...ie, Vig3200 is like a 3500 stall...

The Vig2800 would be a good choice too.

I would keep it under 3k also. The older lt1 pcms don't like high stalls, and with the minimal mods you have, there is no reason to go too terribly high.
Also, I can get you a steal on a new converter...PM sent.

The old Yank Y3000 is good LT1 converter, I would call them.

I have been thinking about the 3000 Yank converter if you guys agree with me i may order it. I will be tuning the PCM after this next set of modifications, so i can take full ecceft of them. If you have any more suggestions, that would be excellent...the goal is i want to get to a 12.9 with the car. How close would this get me with the mods that will be done to the car listed in the sig. This would be dont at Atco on Drag Radials. Thanks
