Default EGR Removal

What's the advantages and all in the removal of this? Is it really worth it. I don't think it will release any more hp will it? I've got it tuned out already. I just can't figure out what it will help out with. I've heard it hurts you gas mileage a little but what does that matter.

It doesn't add any power. It's for weight (very little at that) and it really just cleans up the engine bay.

I'm doing it as soon as I get my block off plates for the EGR and AIR that I ordered today. Now that I'll have some room on the front of the passenger side head I'm going to order an AMW catch can as well.

There's no reason to keep it that I can think of. It will help clean up your engine a lot since it's not dumping exhaust and sewt into your throttle body.

I think I am going to do it now. Thanks Guys! I made my own plates for the air pump. So I'll just use that same stuff for the EGR too. What is an AMW catch can?

I just pulled mine off. How is the best way to seal up the hole in the intake? Major vacuum leak there!

It is basically a filter for your pcv system, since our cars are notorious for sucking oil through it. The catch can just catches all the oil and prevents it from going into the engine. I've got one, and I am amazed at how much oil it has caught. It is worth buying!! Get a hold of Todd and get one!!

go to the autoparts store and buy a 1-3/8" (thats 1 and 3/8 of an inch) adjustable freeze plug. it looks like 2 washers with a piece of rubber between them and a nut on the top. turn the nut, it squeezes the washers together, expands the rubber, and seals the hole. i've got one on mine and it works great. Orileys had a 1-1/4" thru 1-3/8" one, as well as a 1-3/8" thru 1-1/2" inch. i got the first one and it worked great. only like 3 bux

I'm going with the ' Vette LS6 intake and non A.I.R LTs . The SLP intake looks nice but incorporates the EGR still .

Race headers don't have egr or air provisions, so with those you'll only need a freeze plug to block off the egr hole on the intake.

Yeah, one of the guys in the local f body club that I'm in had a 98. he told me about the freeze plug. Don't know why I didn't think of that. It worked perfect though. Thanks for the help!

only reason I removed the EGR was because the LS6 intake I put it didn't have the provisions. I would do it if you ever plan on getting a LS6 intake or if you are just bored one day. Threw codes for me though.
