Default Coil Pack relocation.....

Can I get info on how you have done this (brackets, wires, etc)?

I know there are kits out there, but I have access to a machine shop so I can make any kind of bracket I want.

Post some PICS!!!

I used the Thunder Racing kit...here are a few pics of the coil packs in the supplied brackets...these "assemblies" are bolted to the cowl...you can get a basic idea of how the brackets are layed out...

does the "tab" above the coil packs just slip under the cowl or what. I'm kinda lost as to how to mount the coil packs to the firewall.

Its to cold out to take some pics but getting the coils mounted together is the easy part with all thread, nuts, and some hollow tubes for spacers. On the ends of the coil assembly I had pieces of angle iron. For the passenger side I welded two bolts to the front angle iron facing up. All I did was find the best location, then drill 2 holes in the cowl for the bolts to come up through. You can not hardly see my passenger side coils and how they are mounted. The driver side was different, I had to fab a special bracket I can not explain but you will see how much tighter space gets when you try to fit the coils back in that side. I welded the same studs, but had to mount using a strap coming off of the angle iron at a 90 angle then bolt to the lip of the cowl. Looks good once all the plastic gets put back on, better than the kits. Tips -I did not pull either of the winshield wipers, paint the brackets (oops) before final install. Making the plug wires sucked. I had a heck of a time getting the boots on the wire with lube. Goodluck, rewarding project.

Wow...doggin up old posts, lol.

I think LT1 plug wire kits work since they have the OptiSpark and require full length wires.

I'm still working out some of the details with the brackets.

I'll let you know when they're ready to go!
