Default Almost beat by Chrysler 300

Yea......., I said WTF?
Freakin Hemi Chrysler 300 starts wanting to play from a freeway roll and since I can never get anyone to race I was game to play. I downshifted from 6th to 5th and hit the gas alittle, then went to 4th and let him get a jump. Boy did he ever JUMP! I was so shocked I didn't even grab the top of 3rd but just kept it in 4th and tried to reel him in. He had jumped out almost a car and a half and held it and my plan had backfired since I had no idea I was running a 500hp family car. I slowly and let me say SLOWLY reeled in this large not-so aerodynamic family car. I finally pulled around him between 130 and 135 and let off but he stayed in it and took a sweeping freeway corner. I didn't want to die barely beating a family car so I let him go.
And no I wasn't in the wife's stock Camaro. I was in the Formula!
That thing must have been spraying heavily....

How fast were you going at the time? If you had dropped it into 2nd I think the story would have been much different.

About 340 h.p. stock the Hemi 300C's are rated, so for him to hold his position like that, he must have been spraying or had a nice mod list. Do they even make mods for the 300C's yet?

At first about 65, but then I dropped it to 5th and was getting in the gas to bait him in, so when I went to 4th probobly about 70-75 or so, he still hadn't hit the bottle or whatever he had yet until atleast 75.. I definately could have hit 3rd and handled him better but either way he was far from stock.
I wanted to redeem myself but he got off the freeway.
Oh and btw Camaroz, his tranny shifted just fine thank you!

It must've had some work done. They're turds from the factory. Some guy in a 300C was 2 feet from my bumper on the highway. I guess he thought that was cool. He must've dropped anchor because when I looked in the rear view I couldn't see him anymore.

If it's the 300C, I know a buddy who has run one at the track for ***** and giggles and it ran mid to low 14's in the upper 90's trap bone stock. It was spinning off the line so it's quick for a porky family car. Now the one you raced was definitely NOT stock and packing some serious hardware.

Was joking with ya, I've got a Hemi truck. I'm not a big fan of the trannys either but this particular 300 was not normal. (Yes, I'm )

I don't think the SRt-8's are supposed to be out yet are they? They should be like 4000 lbs so I don't think even with 425hp it would give me as good a run as this one did. Just goes to show what someone can do with a few bucks and a heavy *** new car. I know the trucks have a good size nitrous kit available for them.

300c hemi runs 13.8s stock 5.7hemi 340hp and 390torque with a 2.83 rear.

300c srt-8 runs 13.2 stock 6.1 hemi 425hp and 420 torque with a 3.06 rear.

tranmission glitches? There's no glitches yet. Where did you find such non-sense at? Show me where this info is. It's the same transmission in the trucks since the 2002 trucks since and 2003 hemi truck. It's the 5 speed auto. No issues currently.

however, that 5.7 Hemi responds well to NX Works dodge NOS kit. I bought one for a buddies truck that we run at the track. Going there again in three weeks, should be running some low 12s.

5000 pound long bed standard cab hemi truck ran 12.65 and it weighs 5000 pounds with the driver and fuel. Home made intake, with no muffler and removed the air filter. Videos to prove it. Truck put down over 400rwhp and nearly 500fpt on the dyno. Truck factory specs are 345hp, 375torque.

Fact:
That 5.7 motor is a beast and it loves the damn NOS. It responds very well to it.

No doubt that's what he's running it with.

I know the new stall converter has just been released for the trucks, it should also fit the car too. So they could be using that but highly doubt it. The trans isn't bad if you are using a programmer which only came out for the 2003 hemi trucks. No new versions yet.

Currently, there's no internals yet available. No cams or heads, etc. Just bolt on intakes and exhaust.

you dont' like the hemi because of the torque management system controlling the power to the trans. What year is your hemi truck? There's no trans problems to date with the 5 speed auto. You are correct, it's not out yet. A done deal, they are making it for 43k. Great price for a srt-8 300c.

the problem with the NOS kit, there's only one step colder plugs avaiable for the hemi. I've been checking. 100 shot or 125 is all that's recommended to use until the two steps colder is realeased. NGK makes them. The hemi runs too hot of a spark and not recommended above 125 on a single step cooler plug. Two steps colder and we could see 150-175 shot.

We're expecting 11s this year with the truck. Damn, I can't wait now.

Ah, I see you have a 2003. Best year I think, haha. Same year mine was. I only sold my to purchase another house. As soon as I get my house this year, I'm buying another one. I'm eyeing up that srt-10 quad cab or going for a 2500 with the 6.1L 425hp. But only after I buy my house first. I had a 4x4 laramie, loaded. Go to dtwtrucks.com and lookup this name. I still visit there but spend most of my time here now.

If you don't have a programmer for it, pull the wire. TCM or TMR, same thing. Night and day difference in the trans, will drop you nearly 5 tenths in the 1/4, just by pulling the wire.

I've never had any problems with my tranny, just not a big fan of it. I like the truck and it runs great for 5k lbs plus. I've never done the tmr mod though. I know the 12 sec Hemi your talking about from the Dodge forum. I only look at DTO though.
If I didn't have the old truck I would have consider the nitrous kit for my Hemi. I did manage a 14.9 with it up in New England with just a muffler and good air.. I was happy with that and retired it from the strip.
We moved around alot and I needed the Dodge to pull the Firebird but now were settled and I hardly drive it anymore.
Talk to ya later... my lunch is over.
