Default 98 Trans Am Times??? @LOOK@

My friend owns a 1998 Trans Am LS1 with Lid, Catback exhaust, and headers. The 98 LS1 runs the 1/4 in I believe 13.9-14.0 stock. He says low 13's to high 12's which seems fast to me. What has been your experience with these cars and engines? What could he expect to see out of it. I don't know much about v8's being a import guy myself

I forgot to add its a AT not a 6 speed. On stock tires and no suspension done....95% of his racing is street...I plan on gtech'ing the car soon to get an idea.

My best is 13.5 @ 103 bone stock. Not bad for the first car I ever took down the track. A little practice and low 13's for sure.

yeah first off...i don't know where you get 13.9-14.0 NOBODY runs those times unless they are in the mountains...and g-tech don't give to great of a measurement but i suppose it's better than nothing...just take it to the track!!...you'd be greatly suprised by the ls1 engine...many people underate trans ams and camaro's especially...they just think they are so so cars...similar to mustang gt's...when they actually destroy them...maybe it is because the camaro comes with a v6 and people will race those and think they beat the big dawg....btw that's comparing a 16.0 to a 13.5 haha

bone stock my 98 A4 ran 13.70s with a 2.2 60ft (bald tires).with some DRs it would have been 13.50s easily.not bad for a car that weighs almost 3700lbs with driver.

your buddy should be able to run at least mid 13's bone stock with those mods id say good driving could net 12's for him. i dont know where you heard 13.9-14.0 you must read to many Motor Trends

Yeah, an LS1 with headers, catback, and lid will easily run 12's although he may need nittos so he can get a decent 60'.

My car went 12.7 with a lid, a 2800 convertor, and a cut out.
It is a 98 auto.

yeap ive heard of many of these cases.. one ran 12.89.

i had air lid, and cutout, and otherwise bone stock auto, stock stall gear ect... no headers at the time and ran 12.80. on a hot day too. now i have a ls6 intake on my car stock since its an 2002 ofcourse, but i imagine headers will make up for him just having the standard 98 ls1 intake. i say its possible for 12's and a definite for 13.10's
