Default Hooker vs B&B catback

After hearing all the stories about how restrictive the B&B catback is I finally made the switch to the Hooker catback.

Just got back from the dyno and found that the Hooker lost 8rwhp. The B&B did 374, and the Hooker did 366. From 5100 - 6000 I lost about 8rwhp throughout the powerband.

As far as sound goes, the B&B was definitely deeper, and it was noticeably louder (not loud though) than the Hooker. But, I like how both sound, and I like the fact that the Hooker is quieter.

So, despite what I've read here and on other boards, I think it's safe to say that the B&B is a pretty decent catback.

Yeah that's a good point. The last time I dyno'd, it was early Nov, and I remember it being around 65degrees out or so. This morning I think it was about 8degrees.

It was on the same dyno and same operator, but he did use an updated dynojet program. For some reason it only showed a tq reading from 4500 or so. He didn't understand why it did that either.

wow my b&b sucks imo! the sound is nothing even with headers and no cats, my buddy's hooker catback with stock y pipe and manifolds sounded deaper and louder.. perhaps its becuase my muffler set for 6 months while i ran the exhuast thru a cutout before it.. i dunno. im swapping to duals or something similar, not doing another catback i know that much.

Very interesting info since it was done on the same dynojet...In fact, the weather was a lot cooler with the Hooker too (although I don't know if weather that cold would actually begin to do more harm than good?).

So if you gave up 8rwhp up top and liked the sound/looks of the B&B better, why not just put it back on? I know the Hooker couldn't have cost you that much and you wouldn't have any problem selling it for close to what you paid for it since it's basically brand-new?

BTW, I've heard/been in LS1's with each and I too thought the B&B was louder and sounded better IMO...

There is no way. I had a B&B on my car for about 4 weeks before I switched to the Hooker and gained 9 rwhp through the muffler.

Something isn't right cause the B&B dont flow for **** !
