MY plan for the carpet is to pull the seats but leave the carpet & get the roll cage in the car not welded to see exactly where the the cage lands on the floor of the body. Mark the locations on the carpet then pull the cage/carpet, final install on the cage, then it should be fairly easy to notch the carpet in the right spots for a custom fit. I'm planning on a Wolfe 6pt kit, weld in. I've never used a wire feed but am very good with a torch so I know what a good weld looks like in process. I'll buy a wire feed welder & learn to use it for the install & end up spending around the same as one of the local rollbar guys would charge for a custom setup. As far as welding in a boltin unit I don't see why not.
