Default Parts Cleaner?

Whats a good parts cleaner to put in my parts washer?

I tried diesel and it sucks so I got rid of the diesel and put some of that purple degreaser in and it crystalized on the alum parts I put in and made the alum darker.

What is everyone using in their parts washer?

Should I just use solvent?

I wasn't sure where to put this but it has to do cleaning all my engine parts.

Thanks, I'll give Mineral spirits a shot.

I thought I could clean off some of the cyrstalization on the alum parts so I put them in the dishwasher and the dishwasher made it even worse and turned them white. The smooth areas where the gaskets go are all bumpy with white crap. I can clean them with some steel wool, I just hope they seal okay. Arrrggg!

I would try submerging them in mineral spirits for a day. That will break up some of the stubborn stuff. You could also bead blast them, but they will have a dull finish on the outside.

The parts are basically clean now, just have the white crystal crap all over. I did bead blast the front cover and it looks better now.
