Default 4L60E compatibility

Are all years (except 93) for the 4L60E interchangeable?

For example, could I swap a 1997 trans into a 1995 Z28? Or a 1994 trans into a 1996?

Do the LS1 4L60E's bolt up to LT1's?

Thanks for any help you can offer....

93-mid 95 use non pwm regulated tcc lockup, mid 95-97 will completely interchange and have pwn reg tcc lock up and 98 f- body up will not fit lt1 ls1 due to pump and torque converter differences. However, any 98-2000 up old body style chevy pickup with a 350 or a 4.3 uses the same transmission.

How can you tell the difference between a early and a late '95 4L60E?

My car is a '95 Z28. I think it may even have a '95 Firebird drivetrain in it (the oil pan and trans pan have salvage yard paint pen messages scrawled on the bottom that say "Firebird"). Is there some way to identify the two types of transmissions (PWM vs non)?

If the car is a late 95, then it will be able to use the mid 95-97 F-body and 98-2000 full-size pickup truck?

What is the difference between the non-PWM and PWM reg TCC? I assume the earlier style will not be electrically compaitible? Are there difference electrical connectors?

Sorry about all the questions, but I think my trans is going out and I need to find a working replacement soon. When I am on the freeway, in overdrive and I press the accelerator a quarter or more, the engine revs but the car doesn't accelerate. Would that be the 3-4 clutchpack? All other gears are still working.

Geez, man. I'm not planning on pulling the trans until it's dead. I was hoping there is a way to differeniate the two types of transmissions from a serial number or something in the PCM programming.

Anybody?

Although, thanks for the info 01WS6/tamu. At least I'll be able to tell once I yank the trans.

I also had another question. How difficult is it to pull the trans without pulling the motor? I'd imaging reaching the top bolts on the bellhousing would be difficult, if not impossible, with the long windowshield cowl going over the engine. Can the bolts be reached from the top?
