Default Do they pop off your gas cap for emissions testing?

I took my car in for emissions inspection today (Virginia). I always put my gas cap with the lettering facing upwards and when I got the car back it was upside down. Do they have to pop it off for anything? I don't like people screwing with my tank. Also, do they have to reset the computer? When I started it after the test it started hard like it does after you reset the comp. Thanks in advance.

They test the gas cap to make sure it holds a vacumm. As far as reseting te PCM, I wouldn't think so....

Okay, thanks. It started rough when I first fired it up...felt just like what happens after the computer reset. The ABS Inop light was also illuminated for about 2 minutes.

Where do you live? In Illinois, they used a dyno like machine to test the cars, and if they left the TCS on it could illuminate the ABS INOP light.

When they etest here my ABS and traction control is always screwed up afterwards. I think running it on the rollers does something to the sensors temporarily.

My abs inop light was on for about five minutes after I had my car dynoed. Computer just doesn't like the back wheels spinning and the front wheels not.

Once you cut the key off the ABS light resets and tests the system again should cause no problem, I have done 6+ years of ET in Ga. We dyno 95 and olders and OBDII 96 ups(done over 20K tests ) You have to love edit/tuners with OBD testing because the sky is the limit, hell in Ga. we dont inspect for any emissions equipment. If the MIL is not on and the monitors are set to ready, you will pass

yes they have to test the gas cap , when these cars are dynoed you will get the abs light for a few minutes till it relizes all wheels are going the same speed again and as for the hard start? not sure . they would have scanned it for codes but thats it
