Default 1999+ 4L80E Truck Transmission

I think the 6.0 trucks have a 4L80E option?

If so, it would be the closest to a bolt-in trans.

So here are my questions:
-Is there a 6.0 4L80E truck trans?
-Can you splice on the right connectors from the '60E to make the '80E work or do you have to change the pinouts?
-The '80E requires a different size converter right, and what is the spline size difference, and the spline count?

Yes! Street car!

I don't know about the pinouts, etc. that would help you and your setup (BS3) but there is a connector-to-connector harness available from Speed Eng. They seem to sell the most parts for the swap for trucks. Have to talked to Mike in Ohio?

I had a good call with Mike @ Yank, thanks Mike! Sounds like the tables might be different because the solenoids run according to a different algorithm.

heh? Are you not using BS3 as a stand alone? If so, why not add Meaney's controller?

This is mainly for a truck conversion, but I think several items can get you where you need to be.

All 99 and 00 6.0 motors came with 4L80Es,01 and later 1tons and HDs came with 4L80Es,01 and later Denalis and Escalades came with a 4L65E.As far as wiring John at Speartech can furnish the main adaptor plug and speed sensor cables with pins for the PCM.

speed engineering seems to be on top of this... wiring harness, computer upgrade..etc.

MY question now is, how much power can a FULLY built 4l80 handle and who does this sort of stuff?

I think parish ran 10s on a pretty much stock 80e, and a PI verter.

Right, and thats 10s in a 4500ish pound truck, which is a lot more load/stress than running 10s in a 3400ish pound f-body.

A 4L80E is the direction that I am going to take when my 4L60E dies.

i run a 1997 4l80e with a bolt on yoke. yes the verters are different. bigger. a speartech harness will be needed. flexplate will be needed and the spacer and bolts. the pcm i am running is from an 02hd truck. then i set in my tuning tables and i was off. i was told that my built 80e can handle 900ftptq.

Yes,the 4L80E from a 6.0 truck will bolt straight up on a LS1 motor.Talk to Chuck at FLP he's building my new transmission,he claims that I can use a stock 4L60E flexplate with my new Vigilante converter,if that's the case you would'nt need a crank spacer or 4L80E flexplate for the conversion.
