Gears & Axles - Should I get a 12 Bolt? Or 9" instead?

I know I need a new rear end, my stocker is starting to whine a little...

This is a daily driver car that will never be an all out drag car. I want the car to do well in AutoX as well as drag racing. I dont mind a little whine but I dont want it to be so loud that it gives me a headache.

Will a 33 spine or whatever (dont know what that is) slow me down because its heavy? I am running 3.73 gears right now, and will run that in the new rear... Will my 1/4 and 1/8th times be the same probably?

What are the odds of breaking the 12 bolt with my setup (A4/ 3500 stall)...

Thanks guys, I am wondering if I should get a 9" or a 12 bolt, and what brands are better.. I am leaning towards 12 bolt moser with 3.73 gear, is that ok?

I have a 99 with TCS and ABS, is there anything I should know before buying one used?

THANKS !!!

I love my Moser 12bolt!! I highly recommend it. The 9 inch is an awesome rearend also, but disc brake set ups are very costly. Speed Inc sold me mine at a very good deal last year, I would give them a call if you are serious. Just my .02

for you id go a 12bolt. since you have a A4 you shouldnt have to worrie about breaking it. if you deside to go with moser take it some where when you get it
and have the gears reset up. i whent with a 9in as for the fact i have a M6
and dont wana worry about breaking a rear again

The cool thing about the 9" is that you can have extra pumpkins set up with different ratios. Only should take a couple of hours and simple hand tools to swap them out.

Can I use my aftermarket rotors and everything on the new moser 12 bolt?

I have slotted/drilled rotors and dont want to buy them again...

Yes, your break set up should be fine. I haven't had any problems with my gears, don't know whatSilverZ was talking about having them set up. Just have the car on jackstands and break the rear in like they tell you! You'll be fine.
