Default Strange whistle after FM13 Cam install!

After the FM13 install the car has had a whistle to it like a bad alternator or something. It gets louder with throttle and is driving me nuts. I've swapped the alternator and that did nothing. I've started it up with no belts on it to eliminate any accesories. I've swapped bellows, stock tb, checked for vacuum leaks and still the same whistle. Could it be the air sucking into the runners in the intake. It seems to be coming from that area. I wouldn't think anything mechanical problems would whistle would it? This one has me stumped! Bout to order a FAST 90mm setup to see if it is the intake! Any suggestions guys?

I've got the same problem but it comes from my throttle body.

Check your belt. I bet it is the culprit. Throw some belt dressing on there and see what happens. If it goes away, make sure your balancer is lined up right, your belt is still good, and your tensioner is not weak. Does it sound kind of like a supercharger, but not as cool? LOL.

Another_user, buddy I wish that would work. I pulled all the belts off of it and it does it with NO belts on it. I already went that route! It sounds like a supercharger though, just not from the belts.

My LS6 whistled when it was stock. It was caused by the throttle bypass port. With the cam and heads installed I can't hear it anymore. I would suspect your problem is probably related to a vacuum leak.

That is wierd guys! I'm gonna go over it with a fine tooth comb on Sunday when I got time and swap TB's, bellows, and anything I can think of again. If it still does it I'm buying the LSX and PRAYING it doesn't whistle!

ok take a stethoscope and put a straw ont the end. (so it would be possible to blow in ur ears) run it around the intake and see if you hear any LOUD rushing air noises.. i have fixed to cars like this.. shove a wet dry vac with a long hose into the throttle body.. hold throttle open and run around with the straw.. finds the leak every time

I have the exact same noise after I installed my cam. I'll try and figure it out when I have time. It's not that loud but definitely noticable.

I had a gen 1 whistle after a rebuild, it was the PCV valve.

check your pcv routing. pull oil fill cap off first, is it sucking air real strong through there

I rechecked all pcv hosed last night going to my catch can and back to intake. I have the LS6 valley so there isn't much hose to go wrong. Also have a metco breather and it isn't sucking unusually hard there and both ends of pcv has vacuum. I will swap the pcv valves though and see if that one works.

What is weird is the car had the 224 cam in it for over a year with no whistle. Is it the extra air the F13 moves be causing the whistle? Thanks for the input fellas!

same whistle here also. sounds like a supercharger, just not as loud. i always thought it was just the intake, suking in more air then before (maybe throttlebody or lid). i triple checked that i didn't have any intake or vacuum leaks, then just stopped worrying about it. if u figure out what is making the noise please let us know. good luck!

Well I had a couple of hours to kill so I went to town.
Checking everything (well almost, I started with the easy things)

I finally took the TB off and Undid the idle sensor. found it full of carbon and sticking.
So after thorough cleaning (kerosene, then gas, and Q-tips, rags), I put it back together and >>>>>....
NO more whistle.

Had to reajust the throttle screw as it was iddling a little too high now.
