This work was done by ProDyno, Inc. in Tempe AZ in September 2003. I guess they specialize in exhaust. I'm just curious what peoples standards/expectations are. All of the below was cut off the car. What do you think of this work?
Cat #1 Weld
This is the end of the Cat #2 that exhaust flows out (towards you).
The lip should be on the outside and no gap, right?
X-Pipe
Inside Xpipe
Driver side Header Extension

That looks like South Carolina exhaust work....are you sure you were in AZ?
BTW, you second exhaust is the nicest dual setup I have seen on an F-body and would meet my standards (which are very high). I would drive out to AZ to have a system like that made up!
Even my dual exhaust from Lane isn't that pretty...but he wasn't able to custom fit it to my car.

Can't comment on the welds, but your new system is sweet man. Best looking TD system I've seen on a f-body...makes my TD system look like trash. Could you possibly pm me with the cost of that system all together? I'm very curious.

I think you are being a little too critical. First off, do you weld? The welds on the x-pipe are pretty clean. Sure there is slag inside, but that is also hard to get to after welding has taken place.
The weld on the cat isnt as nice, but im guessing that these were done with the exhaust on the car. Its hard to get a mig into some of the tight places especially around cats with the larger diameter. From the extra mig wire seen, it looks like there was a difficult portion to reach and fully see.

Those welds are pretty bad. There souldn't be "wiskers" on the weld. The X pipe could have been cleaned up inside with a Dynafile or at least with a standard file if it was bought. If they made it, it should have been cleaned before it was welded.

Pro Stock John,
Here is where I had them stop.
I supplied the new SLP cats to them so they are not part of the fee.
Pro Dyno Invoice says: "Header Back Mandrel X-Pipe" - $450

xxsive,
I don't weld, that's why I took it to a shop that specializes in custom exhaust....twice and am just curious what peoples expectations are. This was held on by one band clamp (pass side header collector) when I picked the car up. You can see that in the "Driver side Header extension" side view. So it all slid rigth off and on.

Anyone who defends that first setup needs to look at it from this perspective:
The shop he took it to obviously has trouble with custom exhausts and doesn't undestand how exhaust flow works or how turbulence within the exhaust system robs it of power. They shouldn't have agreed to perform the work. The proof is in the pictures. People with talent but no motivation do work for $8/hr. They just aren't motivated enough to seek out a job that would recognize their talents and compensate them.
Compare the first exhaust to the second exhaust. Forget about how "parts" of the first exhaust look "ok". It is an unsatisfactory build and it is bluntly obvious when you compare to the high quality of the second exhaust.
What is worth $1500? The first exhaust? Or the second exhaust?

Well this is certainly not a representation of the current shop. That shop (Pro Dyno) is under new managment. If you look this was done in September of 2003.
I got my true duals done at this very shop, but it was after the new managment :
