assuming car hooks....min. rwhp to get 9.99ET?
hey guys.........
this sounds a bit like a dumb question, but what is the min. rwhp you need to achieve a 9.99et with about a 3300lb. race weight? this is of course assuming that the car itself is dialed in, the track is prepped properly, and all other varialbles working in your favor; including the stars being aligned! any insight would be appreciated.
thanks,
Dave

ok. just wondering. i saw a post about a guy with a Speed Inc. T-76 turbo kit that has so far made 675ish rwhp on pump gas and like 800+rwhp on 110 and he's "thinks" it might go 9's with the race tune. i have never calculated or seen just what it takes at minimum to achieve 9's, but i responded saying i thought that the pump gas figure might be enough to do it for him. i'm sure he'll be happy with the results either way, but even more so on pump gas!
thanks,
Dave

I ran 10.14 @ 134 with 528rwhp (all motor), if I had a looser converter (I was using a nitrous converter that only stalled to 4400) and cut like 1.3x instead of a 1.45 60' I would have been pretty close. I weighed around 3270 that day, had the laptop and the kirkey pass seat in the car.
This year it will run 9s n/a

I should add that I wouldn't expect that to be the norm for most. I can't get a HP/ET calculator to support how my car runs the number.
Suspension working awesome to 1.3x short times and a converter/tranny that is really efficient at using the power I'm making helps a lot.

Well I'm 60fting at 1.47 now and I know theres more in the car with 200lbs out of it and a rear anti roll bar plus a better front shock than my blown Hals
That being said,If I get the car down to 3300lbs and tweek whats left of my susp work plus add 130RW to my car I think I could run in the 9's on motor.
We'll see,1st I wanna go 10.50's with the 346

Damn, DA must really kill an ET, and Hawaii must have some shitty DA. Our times are always slower than those in the mainland, per power level. I need to get back to the mainland for real.
I ran 11.01 with about 350rwhp and a 150 shot, 1.4 out of the hole at 122mph. Talk about some bad combo. Raceweight was 3550.

I've always been jealous of the guys that get the mineshaft air (0 to -1000DA). I don't think my car has ever been run in less than +1000DA.
As everyone has stated above, depending on your how well your suspension is set up, and how good the air is out side it could be anywhere from 500rwhp to 600rwhp. 600rwhp with a decent suspension set up (1.4x 60' times) should be more than enough horsepower to get you there. I am shooting for the same goal now.
The car is right at the 10.40-10.50 range with a 1.46 60' time and right around 540rwhp. With a 1.3x 60' time and some decent air it could get damn close to 9's. If not we'll throw the 200shot pills in there and let 'er rip.
Good Luck!

Dave, I would say 550-600rwhp at 3300 will go 9's. Gonna come down to the 60ft and other factors. I went 136mph (10.33) but spun but other have gone 9.8's with my mph. And I had belt slippage too. I also went 10.38 at only 132mph.

good friend of mine has gone 10.40 at 128 with a 1.42 60 foot in a 3400 lb car with driver with 469 rwhp. I'd say 525-575 should do it, but lot of variables involved as PSJ mentioned.

im hopin to do a 9.99 with right at 500rwhp with about a 3000lbs raceweight first part of next year once i finish the weight mods and add some good heads. still keeping the m6 in the car it will take some 1.39 or better 60's and some of our january -1000 da to get there though
