I believe it. With that setup he has/power he's making, he should be running easy low 13's at 105-110.

I'm pretty sure he's talkin about at the crank, it would take a lot more than a banks 6gun to but that at the wheels, especially with the kinda drivetrain loss he's lookin at.

It would take way more mods to make 530/850 at the rear other than the Banks 6 gun. Or the guy in the Z28 spun like crazy, but with only the Banks programmer it would still be a mid to high 14 second truck at the most. I know, I have ridden in a Bulley Dog chipped 7.3 diesal and I sill wasnt impressed about it.

I Plan On Building A Camaro Or A Ta In The Future For The Strip Only. I Am Friends With Mike Brown And Steve Turley. I Am Going To Have Them Play With A Motor Setup For The Race Car. I GOT AN AWESOME DEAL ON THE MUSTANG AND IT LOOKS BAD ASS.

When my dad had his '02 d-max /w chip / exhaust etc. he could outrun stock ls1's.

actually that engine is the new 6.0 powerstroke which btw is a monster stock. My buddy has a bov, exhaust, diablo and some other chip piggybacked on each other and he can outrun new v8 camaros(ls1). He even has an 8 inch lift and 38" boggers. And he also dynoed somewhere close to 500hp and 900+trq. It was amazing when he dynoed it, even though he coated everything in the shop with black smoke.

well, i had a 6 speed 7.3 liter powerstroke. Upgraded fuel system, larger Holset/Garret Turbo. Custom burned chip, High Ram Upper intake, new upper intake piping, larger downpipe, 4.5" exhaust, New larger Intercooler from Houston Performance Diesel... They also did the tuning. yada yada yada


basically watching a diesel put 1,XXX lb ft of torque down is fucking awesome and blowing cars away with the 6 speed in the truck was some of the best times ever...



but now that truck is sold, and an 05 supercrew resides in it's spot. an 05 powerstroke King ranch will be moving in though ;)

B.S. A buddy of mine has an 04 powerstroke with 6 gun, larger intercooler, 4 inch exhaust and tq converter. My truck puts 320 hp and 350 tq to the ground. I walk all over him.

Diesels can be made fast but it's hard to compete with a gas when it comes to acceleration.
By the way there are several chipped/boxed/injectored.................. diesels where i'm from and i have yet to get beat by one. I had a close call onetime with new 6.0 with a tuner before i got my shit put on but i spun real bad but caught up real fast and still got him by about a car in the 1/4.

I would like to see what a chipped 3/4 ton 2X4 reg cab 6.0L would do.

Theres a couple reason why I dont believe it.

1. There was no story at the begin, he stated "This thing flies" Like he had just got it the chip installed and is impressed with it new found power.

2. Stock 6.0 Powerstrokes run 16.5 seconds in the 1/4. Say you installed a chip, it might bring that down to 14.5. Most F-Bodys run mid 13's to low 13's and hitting 12's is easy. A f body stock sprints 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, stock powerstroke mid 8's.

I agree that diesals can be made to run fast, but its gonna take more than a banks 6 gun to outrun a F-body especially at 20-30 becasue its gonna downshift and if its got 2.73 gears pull like a mother starting at 50mph and up, it all just doesnt add up. I could have beleive it if he said from a start because of the traction thing but not at 20-30mph.

I Was Going To Buy A Dmax But I Get The Ford "a" Plan. The Reason I Sold The Camaro And Bought The Mustang, Because It Never Ran I Always Had Problems With It all the time. It Was A 11.second Car We Couldnt Get It Tuned. I Like Anything Fast I Am Interested In It.women, Trucks, Cars,boats........

Those stock #s are impressive, but look at the weight of the truck. That is what hinders its performance.

Becasue 325 hp at the flywheel + 150hp from the 6 gun equals to 475 (Now who rode the short bus to school?) So you would have to have way more mods to get 530 hp.

If I wanted to pull a sled I would have bought a diesal, but I would rather have a Procharged 5.3.

BTW, you might want to check the cruise control, you wouldnt want your truck to go up in a blaze while sitting in the garage.

You guys are assuming the best case scenario for both vehicles. Maybe the diesel had a great run and the LS1 fucked up. Case in point...my buddy was driving my '00 A4 LS1 and he got STOMPED by a 15 second Monte Carlo. That should NEVER happen, but it did. :( Weird shit happens on the street sometimes.

that truck has got to weigh an assload.. if the z28 spun from a stop i can believe it.. teh landscaping company used to have a few of these trucks setting around.. the son of the owner had a 2004 ford diesel with all kinds of shit done, had some kinda propane injector plus the usual chip or whatever.. he claimed all kinda insane hp and tq #'s only to lose everything i saw him race lol.. i had my camaro.. a buddy had a b/o ls1 that worked there and the shift leader had a b/o lt1 vette.. so we all knew our cars.. it was funny to hear him act like his truck was a sports car, granted it could pull a bazzillion pounds, but it often lost to random cars and trucks when we'd take it out to go party on a friday nite lol

it was a good work/haul truck, but ti was a heavy ass truck, that prolly did make teh 700lbs of tq he claimed.. becuase we had 5th wheel horse trailors hooked ot it and u couldn't even feel the damn thing back there.. so im not knocking the truck, just saying it was way to damn heavy.. prolly weighed atleast 2x as much as any z28.

I have no trouble with my buds new 6.0L powerstroke, programmer, exhaust, intake upgrades. I've raced 6 different powerstrokes, including the older model 7.3L, all had tune upgrades, and all pretty much ran high 13 on their best day. Diesels can be made fast, no doubt, but I'm kinda with these guys on saying it takes more than the tune.
At the same time, I won't call BS on this kill. Like unit said...the street can really post some crazy results sometimes.

I've had closer runs with the Duramax diesels. I've had some go 13.5 on me, and I've run into a cummins running 12.8. That thing was rolling, and I love the black smoke it lets out hammering down the track.

Maybe they're at high altitude where the forced induction gave the truck the advantage?

My friend at work.. whose truck is sitting in the parking lot right now.. is a 2004 6.0 powerstroke. He had a chip in it that did 140+hp, but it cracked his turbo and manifold after he left it on there for a road trip and it got too hot. He unloaded the program, and ford fixed the turbo under warranty. He talked them into putting a banks turbo on if he paid the difference between what ford warrantied and the cost of the banks. So he has an aftermarket turbo, exhaust, and program. This truck might be a good matchup for an a4 2.73 lt1.. considering he told me it weighed like 8000+ lbs. It was exempt from emissions even because it was so heavy. At about 500-600hp in something that weighs 8000lbs+.. well you figure it out.. lol. My best guess is it runs low 14's. It was merely a poor race for the z28. For that I give you props. Get some more mods and try racing another one with a capable driver.
