Default Need help launching

Please dont laugh just to start off.....OK well i have an auto lt-1 trans am ws6 and i am racing a hard race tonight...everything is stock down to the tires....do you guys have any hints? i have raced a few times but i usually spin through 1st and then hook....once again please dont flame me just give me some detailed information Thanks alot guys your great help!

Also i herd that doing 1-2-3-Drive is faster but i also herd that it can mess your tranny up which is true??

Bassani equiped 1997 Cobra manual thats it....he shifts slow i hear...so i think we will stay even and i will pull during his clutch time then slow pull....so i gotta lern how to take off as fast as possible without

most common mistake is just mashing the pedal to the floor. sure, some people can, cause they hook right away, but you need to find that sweet spot. go out and practice a lil. hold the breaks and slightly give it enough gas until you feel the car start to move slightly, then hold. light goes green, let off breaks, hit the gas. very simple. just need to find the sweet spot like i said. and as for going 1-2-3-d like you said, i dont think its faster at all. auto tranny's will shift at right about the right spot, and since you dont have any mods you should be fine with letting the tranny shift on its own

what a life saver....thanks alot!! imma leave early and practice! so when do you think it is safe in first gear to smash it? i was thinking around 3 or 3.5 k

well, you can smash the pedal whenever you want, but be prepared to let off when you start to loose traction. let off just enough to where you hook, and go from there. some people will just leave the pedal on the floor and spin thru 1st and 2nd..but thats not what you wanna do if you want to win. where are you located?
