Default Max lift on LS6 springs >.600"?!?

In last month's issue of Hot Rod, they put a cam (Comp 230/237 I belive, w/ .600" lift) in w/ a carb intake, and make 530RWHP (flywheel). Then they go on to say they do it with stock valvesprings.

Now, last I saw on anything "official" they were rated to .555" lift. Does HRM know something we don't, or are they just asking for disaster?

Somehow I think its the later.

You have to remember the articals are self serving They are going to wright what you want to hear to sell ther product.Any time you change cams or rocker ratio you better check for spring bind retainer to seal clearance and if you are not sure piston to valve clearance. It is far better to spend extra time to do it wright first time the to have to do it twice and possibly cost you more in the long run.

So are you saying that .600" of lift isn't a good idea with LS6 springs?
