Default shift problems please help me!!!

I just bought a 95 formula with an A4 , my problem is if i pull it all the way in 1st manually and floor the accelerator more than 3/4 it automaticlly
upshifts to second gear.. if i leave in drive it will run through all the gears just fine . anyone else have this problem and if so how to fix it???

Theres a problem somewhere internally. IF you select first gear, it should mechanically disable the shift solenoids from engaging second, third, or otherwise. If its a 2.73 car with a nonselectable first gear, then there you go. If it isnt, then there's a problem.

Haven't checked my gear ratio to see if it was a 2.73 i was told it was a 3.23 but was changing them out to 3.73's any way it it is is there something on the shifter that I take off or what do I do?
