Default Bigger inj DO help!

I know there is a lot of debate over whether or not you "need" bigger injectors for anything under 500hp. Well, let me add some real data to the debate. I am right at that number (490) and I just swapped out my stock 26.6lb inj for some 30s (= 34lbs for our psi rating) and I picked back up the 10 or so of the 15hp I lost after I installed my 9" Moser rearend.

So for my car anyway, my inj were maxed out & I needed bigger ones. To me this validates the injector worksheets I've posted links to here a few times. So while your stock inj CAN work, you MIGHT be leaving hp on the table by using them after a certain point. And it's under 500hp, at least in a 2000 TA.

No flame war requested, just trying to add real data to the theories.

I totally agree with you. I'm also crusing in the HP range you are and I too have realized a few more ponies by putting in the 30#'s. I found out that on the Dyno we couldn't get the AF to go below a certian point until we put in the bigger injectors.

How did you tune for these 30s using HP tuners? I just bought a set of svo injectors and will replace my 99' 26pounders on Monday.

Any suggestions for taking the old rail off? I wish I had done this when I swapped in my ls6 intake.

For my '99, I bought the 28.8's from TSP with fuel rail for $60.00 ... the whole setup w/Bosch injectors. They had a special on. With my sig, they're doing a good job for me.

Oh yeah .... if you're removing the fuel line you can get (and will need) a removal tool. I think most auto parts stores sell them for about $5.00 - $7.00. It's a necessity.
