Question 6.0 use 2 diff. length cranks?

Can anyone explain Ls1 based motors having early/late style crank lengths?
Guy on truck forum here having thrust wiping out issues.

AFAIK.... the 01 and later 6.0 crank is what the LS1 motor needs. 00 and previous was longer at the rear. If its longer where the flywheel/ flexplates mates up then you will wipe out the thrust bearing because of the tranny assembly forcing the crank forward.
