Generation III External Engine - ok down to one set of header but dont know which one

Ok i know i am for sure going to order a set of QTP's. I have the other screen up just waiting to place the order. Obviously i am not going to pass emmissions, but i dont want to make it too obvious to the inspector that the headers are illegal. What should i do, with a head/cam car i hear the HVMC's have been known to pick up an additional 15-20 horses (found that in search, could be wrong) also eventually down the line i am thinking of nitrous and i hear the 1 7/8's are very good for nitrous cars. THe only thing that turns me away from doing the 1 7/8's is that i hear it is to much for a normal cube car, and im not going to be on the spray all day, so is it really worth going 1 7/8? Thanks

I'm in the same boat man, I'm thinking about ordering headers sometime soon (Kooks or QTP) but I don't know what to get. People claim that 1 7/8 are making power even over the 1 3/4, but I haven't seen a graph yet. I'm not going to do nitrous though, just a "healthy" heads/cam setup. If you are going to do nitrous, I would definately go 1 7/8, but this is JMO and I have NO EXPERIENCE with these headers.

The best advice I can give you though is to check the dyno results for a thread about 1 3/4 vs. 1 7/8 soon to come, and check the Sponsors GP section, because QTP is about to run a special and will save you some money if you wait just a little longer.

1 7/8 may make more max power but not in the RPM band where most of use the car. You want velocity not volume, and 1 3/4 are better for that. If you have a big cube motor, go with 1 7/8 otherwise 1 3/4 are preferred.
