Who races w/ TH350 with a brake?
I'm extremely swamped right now but have several setups in the future that are going to make my 4L60E cry, even at my low raceweight.
I am thinking of going with the TH350 instead of the TH400 because of my 2900'isih lb raceweight..
Next setup will most likely run 10.5@130 and the setup after that could hit mid 9's over 140...
Trans brake is a requirement.. I'm looking for some 1.2 60's..
So, anyone think that the TH350 w/brake will be reliable for this setup?
I know Colonel was running a TH350 into the 9's..

I'm running a th350, have yet to really play with the t-brake, have gone 1.271 foot braking it.
I'v had good luck with it holding the power, as i'v been running it since 99'

If you're gonna go with the TH350 I'd go with the Rossler. I know of one of the Cartek cars that went 9.40's at around 140mph with it and I've heard nothing but good reviews about them. I have the Rossler 350 in my car and it's set up to run mid 9's but I haven't run the # yet so I can't speak from expericence.

Very nice short time for the power you are putting down. Those numbers are through an unlocked converter i take it? Is that a stock gearset tranny?

No trans brake in my TH350 in my old 2000 SS, ran mid/high 10s for a year and a half at ~3500lbs. After ~80 passes it started making funny noises, just caught the intermediate roller race before it let go (stock with an aftermarket outer race), replaced it with a TCI 36 element sprag/direct drum. About 50 passes later it broke the forward drum where the input shaft goes in, replaced that and no more problems for 120 or so more passes and the trans is still going in another low 10 second car.
Mine had a TCI 2.75 1st gear in it, usual red eagle clutches/alto steels and all torrington bearings. TH350s are one of the easier transmissions to fix and they hold up pretty well if you use the decent parts, number one failure point is the intermediate roller clutch on the direct drum. They are also super easy to fix, rebuild and get parts for. This car has a TH400 and I just put an aluminum forward and direct drum in along with a few other lightened parts and its still a tank trans - if I wasnt so lazy I'd put a TH350 back but I dont feel like building another trans

Alright I need to make a decision asap.. and am still not sure what route to go..
Whatever route I do it will be with a trans brake and non-lockup converter.. so either TH350 or TH400...
My next setup (cam only).. has to run 10.3... a stretch but so is 10's stock internals NA...
Then my setup after that which is already in the planning stage is a Futral big bore LS2.. should run mid 9's..
My raceweight is about 2950..
What route do I go? TH350 or TH400.. I was going to call up Rossler tomorrow to see what they think but I figured I would pick some of your brains first.
I am not sure how long it will take to have a tranny built but I doubt my 4L60E will be ok with low 10's..
- Up the river without a transmission.

so far I have not gone faster with the t-brake, as Joe O an mikey have also found the same. I want to do some more testing this year to see if I can get it to go faster on the T-brake.
