Default Very asymmetric cam good for stock exh car?

I have a mild car with manifolds, gutted cats and SLP CME
exhaust (+cutout). I see a cam that is a 222 / .53 intake
and 230 / .53 on 114 LSA and I was thinking this might be
a reasonable, semi-sleeper cam that would play well with
the punk exhaust I have.

Is there any particular downside to big exhaust durations?

What is the "cutoff point" for using Z06 valvesprings (w/
the light Z06 valves) which I already have in hand, vs
stepping up to 918s? Does it go just by lift & RPM, or more
by lobe style?

You will be fine with Z06 springs. I think they are good up to like .575 or something, but I don't think many use them for anything more than .550. The hotcam is made for stock(ish) vehicles, and it is more exhaust biased than that. That cam should idle nicely and make for an excellent sleeper, especially with tuning.
