Default stroker kit question, HELP!!! bore questions as well

i was looking around at stroker kits and i kinda got stuck on the kit from slp.

http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...02&BIG=12402-1

Thats a link to it.

anyways, it said on there that the pistons size for it is 4.000" First question, roughly, how much much can i be expecting for a bore job for that?

also, will the block be bored to exaxt 4.000" or will it be somewhat bigger?

Also, with the bore job done is there anything special for heads that ill need to look at? I was looking on ebay and noticing a lot of the ls1 heads are ls6 head ported to stage 1 or 2. How big of a head would this be?

as far as heads and cam, and the bolt ons required for it, what else would i have to buy for this stroker?

also, is there anything else i have to worry about besides boring the block?

what about balancing? in the info on the site, it says the crank is balanced to rotating assembly. Does that mean i can just bolt it in?

you'll need an 6.0 iron or ls2 block. you cant bore the ls1/ls6 to a 4.0" bore w/o resleeving.

honestly, since you dont come across as one to do there own work, your best bet is to just purchase a 402/408 shortblock from a sponsor. after buying a new block, machine work, ect. it comes out near the same price.

as far as heads, one setup to a 4" bore w/ the valve unshrouded will be your best bet as well.

With a 4" stroke and a 3.898" or 3.905" piston you get 382/383 CID. I wouldn't go over 4" stroke with a stock bore. Do a little more looking.

IF you up to a Iron block 6.0 you can go 408 very easly.
I wantacar I hope you know that the GenIII motor is not like a SBC 350. The specs are all dif and to top it off it looks nothing like a SBC. If you plan to do your own work i would find some one in your area that can help you out and giude in the right direction.

You will need a head gasket for a bigger bore also.

If I were you, I would buy one already assembled and stick it in. Machine work can get expensive. If you insist on doing it yourself, I would invest in a LS2 block for the build up. It is 60lbs lighter and just as strong. You will have a good running 402 ci motor then. You will need a descent size cam and the heads must have descent springs on them.

You can go with a 4.125" stroker kit that would give you a 395/396. But like VSGLS1 said, 4" of stroke (382/383) is about the max you can go "safely". Excessive oil consumption and side load on the pistons can become issues with a 4.125" of stroke.

Still, some guys here have had great success with their 395/396.

The 4.000 crank is all I would go as I build these every week at HPE. We also have a 408 stroker kit right now for 2099.00 that has the same Eagle 4340 4.000 crank and 4340 H-beam rods and Wiseco or Mahle pistons depending on the application with matching Plasma Moly rings and Federal Mogul 152M Main Bearings and Clevite CB663H Rod bearings. These can also be pre-balanced for an additional 100.00 and we will also mock the kit up so you do not have ny interference problems. On "some" blocks the bottoms of the cylinders may have to be notched slightly with some kits. I also now have an econo stroker with I-Beam rods and forged pistons for 1899.00 also with the Eagle 4.000 crankshaft and also available balanced for 100.00 extra. There are too many piston combos to list so I would need to know your application.

no. the ls1 is an aluminum block with iron liners. they only tolerate a basic hone and clean up.

Well you can do an iron block .030 over just like a regular SBC but JRP is right about the aluminum blocks. They can't be bored almost at all but rather just honed a little to get rid of slight wear.

Eagle has the stock 3.622 stroke and 3.900 and 4.000 and 4.100 but no 3.750 right now. I have a sale right now on all our Eagle stuff.
