Default Will this disable air bag without deploying?

Will unplugging the air bag sensor located in the console disable the air bags. Will my air bags deploy? Will my SES light come on? Anybody unplugged theirs?

Not sure if it will deploy the air bags, but it will set the SES light off.

I just pulled the fuse. No problems.

Your SES light did not come on with the sensor unplugged and fuse removed?

I do not know about the ses light. But: the only way to make the bags deploy is to close all three front collision sensors simultaneously at over 15mph, or directly ground a control wire to the airbag. A lot of the hype about bags going off for doing little things in the vicinity of the controller and air bag module is just hype. As long as you do not tap into the wiring for the sir system you can plug and unplug individual components of the sir system with no danger to you, or adverse effects to the vehicle other than the sir light being illuminated. If you want to disable the system disconnect the controller in the center console then pull the bulb out of the cluster and it will never bother you again.
