346 vs 347.. someone school me inside
im not a bottom end expert here. Whats the major difference in the 346 and 347? Whats done to make a 346 into a 347?
probably a stupid question.. I have some ideas why, but im not 100% certain...

the stock crank has been proven to 800hp.

i agree with jerami, but the stock crank has been proven far past this...harlan was running a stock crank when he went well into the 8's i'd say he had over 1000hp...i've yet to hear of someone breaking a stock crank...not that it isn't possible or not that anyone hasn't done it....i just haven't come along one yet..

98TAtuo, to add to jmx, displacement changes with Stroke and /or bore. By that, either bore the block larger (sometimes needing to be resleeved) or change stroke, either less DeStroking like old 69' 302 Z28, or SuperStroking like 4.125" stroke crank, any other available, as well as offset grinding.
If you swap the stock crank for a 4" and clean up the cylinders to a 3.905 bore, you have your 382 Stroker. However, you overbore 4.095 (4.110 sleeved) and keep the stock crank you also have a 382 All-Bore. Same basic discplacement and two different combos, one torquey low rpm, and one hp and high rpm.
If you swap the stock crank for a 4" and clean up the cylinders to a 3.905 bore, you have your 382 Stroker. However, you overbore 4.095 (4.110 sleeved) and keep the stock crank you also have a 382 All-Bore. Same basic discplacement and two different combos, one torquey low rpm, and one hp and high rpm.

cat, thanks for the info..
Im just looking to see what can be done to a 346 to get as much power outta the bottom end as possible, without buying a whole assembled 382 or etc setup.
