Default 230*@ .050-114 l/c pass smog?

A few sponsers have told me that I could pass CA. smog with there camshafts that have 230* duration @ .050 on a 114. Have anybody done this? Guys that have this please Let me know your thoughts.

I very highly doubt it. smoggable cams will have negative overlap. 230 @ 114 will have positive overlap.

Doesn't that depend on timming events?

Are you talking about a 230 on say a 116/118 LSA? That might work, although I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for the tune to make it pass. Your post doesn't really specify whether this is on a 114 LSA or say a 116/118 LSA with a 114 ICL

226 on a 114 will pass with a GOOD tune.
224 on a 114 will pass
224 on a 112 will pass with a GOOD tune.
Or so I've heard.

GOOD TUNE that seams to be the key. Where do you get a GOOD TUNE? Are you in the North or South?

It might be interesting sometime to put cats on the car and see if I could tune it to pass. I could probably even get access to a smog dyno to tune it on, but it would be more effort than I would want to expend.

WTF kind of testing do they have in Cali? Do ya'll have some kind of OBDII/ASM dyno combo testing? My shop in Ga. does ET's and our program is supposedly based on California's. On 96 up cars we only perform OBD testing so if you car has had the LS1 edit/tuners treatment you should pass(no cats needed LOL) No visual inspection on OBDII cars. Just curious.
