Question Firehawk hood

Okay I read a thread awhile ago about somebody wanting to put a firehawk hood on a TA. First off I was wondering if anybody has pics detailing this and second they where talking about the raptor hood and some guy in Gettysburg that has these with the heat extrators. If so where can I find that guy and are they functional? Any help here would be appreciated

I don't know about the Raptor hood so I won't comment. I know that the 'Hawk hood will require some minor cutting to the front bumper cover.(The bodyshop handling the project can do the job). The Firehawk hood has the heat extractors above each exhaust manifold, so it's in an ideal spot for rising hot air. Just a lil' FYI. Good luck.

The guy in Gettysburg PA is Roger@US exotics. He is not making the hoods anymore. I was lucky to get one of the last ones he made

Thumbs up

Onyx_rock... that looks like a very good hood. I looks like quality. I can hardly tell the difference between it and the Firehawk hood. My hat's off to the maker!!

Again that hood looks awesome. Anyone know anybody else that does this to the raptor? And the minor cutting that is needed is it noticeable when the hood is open

Thanks. It is good quality but I also had a good body shop work on it. It did have a few pinholes in the fiberglass but they were easily taken care of with some filler. Roger does make nice hoods. I actually live about three hours from him and took the ride up to have him put it on for me. I still have to make the trip back up to pick up my old one but it is a beautiful ride through the mountains in PA.
I believe he is still making the WS9 which is the WS6 hood with the firehawk extractors. Last I talked to him he was going to be spending most of his time making parts for vipers.

US Exotics customer here too...

If Roger isn't doing his Superhawk hood anymore, the next best place would be to pick one up off of Ebay or maybe in the classifieds. GM Restoration sells the hawk hood too for a measly $1000!!! Guess that's not too bad from SLPs tag of $1800...

From what I have been told. He will never make another superhawk again. The mold used to make the hoods got broken somehow. So I dont think you will ever see another one made by him.

to bring an old thread back to life.
my car is in the body shop right now getting new front and rear bumpers(dont ask.... )

so i had just picked up my firehawk hood (OE off of a 99) and while is in there im having them align it and re-finish it.
now hes telling me that he cant find a front bumper to fix is, hes had 3 dif bumpers sent. 2x trans am styles and 1x firebird style. none line up with the hood.

so this is my question:
does GM actually make a 'firehawk' bumper? or are they cut from the factory?
we even got the vin from a hawk and the dealership said that they had already sent the one that it called for.

yes i am aware that you do need to trim back on the factory bumper for it to fit.

but is to trim it the ONLY way to make it line up?
the shop doing the work really doesent want to have to cut on a new bumper.
(to quote him exactly: Ghetto )

any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

GM bumper, same as all the original Trans Am, or Formula bumpers, MUST be trimmed to fit the hood.
Not Ghetto.

Find someone nearby with a Firehawk to bring the car by, or you go look at it, so you can view it firsthand.

so there is no way to order this bumper ready to go?

i just find it hard to believe how GM would make a car that doesent have a matching bumper available without having to be cut...
