Hey guys,
I found a place that has a 2002 SOM Ws6, It's got monsoon and it looks amazing... not sure on the miles ( just emailed them about it ) and they only want 17.5k for it! Only problem is the title is branded with Flood Damage, but they looked it over and couldn't find flood damage anywhere on it. The pictures look awesome.... I may go take a gander at it..

Run!! Anything can be made to look pretty. There is a reason the STATE and INS put flood damage on the title. Buyer beware.

Asking too much. You can find better elsewhere. I would not give more than $9K for it.

If that is the colour you're looking for it is rare. However, keep looking and you will find another.

wow 9k for a 2002 with 22k miles? I dunno, if anyone is REALLY looking for a SOM ws6 and wants to know where they can locate it, I'll let ya know... maybe have it looked over by a shop or something, I don't know..

For 9K you might want to pick it up and change the wireing harness.

My point is that it is a flood damage vehicle and that alone decreases the value alot. You really don't know what is wrong with the car. It is always going to have the flood damage stigma haunting it. :)

If you are going to buy a ws6 or any f-body for Competition then sure buy a salvaged titled f-body. But if you are in for the long run or anything near it. Go some where else for a purchase. :)
And I wouldn't give 9,500 even salvaged. IMO
Where did we get $9500? I thought his post said $17.5K
The $9500 is too high for a salvage car IMHO and the $17,500 is ridiculous.

I guess it must have been me :emb: I said that I would not pay more than $9000 for it. I would pay that if it is an authentic NOM 02 WS6 with low miles but that is it.

Everyone is forgeting one very important factor here. It is very hard to get INSURANCE on a salvaged title vehicle. Call your insurance agent and just ask if they would even consider it. I have been told it is very hard to find insurance company's that will do it for a salvage tiltle.

Once again my only reason I would get it . Drag race only. Insurance is not an issue there. I would not buy a salvaged one that was wrecked and tub it out. But a water damaged f-body sure. why not.
I just came up with that number I threw the $9500.00 out there because I seen a total ss with very low miles go for $8900.00 it was only a few years old but it had been smashed the f@ck up severely in the front and pieces was missing out of the front end. Can you say that person (unnamed) took it :eek2: rear with no vasoline. So that is how the number came up for me besides MEAT speaking up about 9k. Heheh.

I would call your insurance company, find out that angle. Take it to a gm dealer and have their crew give it a good once over, and then have them do it again just to make sure. If both of those work out I'd try and talk that price WAY WAY down. No way a car with a salvaged title, that is now three years old is going to sell for half of what it sold for in the first place. Hell I wouldnt pay 17.5 for an 02 even without the salvaged title. F-bodies are getting pretty cheap, and are becoming more common (even with their finite supply) to find used.

i tried to buy a 98 SS a couple years ago, through my credit union, but the car ended up having a salvage title. my loan officer said that a slavage/flood/rebuilt title meant the car would only be worth 1/2 or less of book value. she also said that she, and most other banks wont loan on a bad titled car. and the ones that do, she said will give an aweful interest rate. oh, and my state farm agent said that reputable insurance companies :jest: wont insure a car like that.
check out the car in above post! :)

I am on my second salvaged Firebird, and I have had no problems with insurance or getting a loan. Some people have a problem with buying a car that has had repair work done on it, but if they smashed it and had it repaired they wouldn't have a problem driving it. They probably would say anything when the sell the car either.
Now that I am done on my soapbox. Be carefull with a flood car. Check the radiator and ac condenser for water lines. Maybe check inside the doors for water lines, if you can get them to take the door pannels off. I wound be talking them down a lot too. I but them salvaged to save money, knowing it will always be worth less then a car without a marked title.
