i had a buddy that his kept coming loose after a gear install on a 10bolt. We locktited it(red finally) and tightened the **** out of it with the rear tires loades and a 3/4in drive strongarm. It worked

You have to calculate how much inch lbs the pinion nut requires in order to set preload. Usually in the vacinity of 12-18"s which is 1-1.5" Ft.Lb.s just on the nut. You have to add in how much the torque wrench will need just to screw the damn thing on, although I'm worried now about whether they originally crushed the collar/sleeve, I always use 2 ft.lbs. to set pinion preload. If its comming loose you need to pop it all the way off, loctite it, and do the above. After you do jack the *** end up and spin the yolk to check for binding (if pinion depth/backlash was set with a loose yolk these are gonna need to be reset unless your lucky), also spin the tires front to back to check for binding as well. If you feel any binding backlash is to loose or way to tight (usually to loose), and you just dedicated yourself to tearing into this rearend and resetting it so feel free to b!tch to someone about warranty or there craftsmanship

**EDIT** after reading above I will give you one fair warning in saying DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT "tighten the **** out of it", pinion preload is a key importance in making sure a rear end doesnt whine and your pinion bearings last longer than 10-50k.

Also for ***** and grins after you do all this, set it back on its tires and spin the yolk side to side. Come back on here and tell me how much play it has before it locks in either way.
